Per The Baseball Paper, Steve Lyons suffered a knee injury in a “scooter accident” in “Thailand,” and is about to go a second procedure on his knee. Speaking for all NESN viewers, we urge Steve to take as much time as he needs to recover from this unfortunate incident, all season if need be.

Also, Pete Abraham is writing the national baseball notes column in tomorrow’s Sunday Baseball Paper, which may indicate that he has been anointed Nick’s successor. If so, they fumble a chance to give Alex Speier a chance to make their sports section notable again.

Was listening to Sebastian Maniscalco on Pete & Sebastian on Sirius talking about being at the Oscars. Apparently he was in Green Book. It’s a funny listen.

Phillies are doing the Bryce Harper press conference in the stands at their Spring Training facility. The Veterans Stadium Sports Group just out did Fenway Sports Group.

Tuning into a spring training game may be worth three horns <insert_photo: Ricola Horns/> but it sure beats watching and listening to three hours of Red Sox Foundation patter.

This is like when in Toy Story 3 they called on that puppy from the first movie and he was a broken down wreck.

The years have not been kind…..

Only in spring training, Danny …

Went back to the tube a few moments ago. On MLB Network, the Padres are hosting the Giants. Ian Kinsler just hit a bases-clearing double off Drew Pomeranz with Don Orsillo at the microphone,

It’s a Red Sox world, Danny, a Red Sox world …

The Wade and Dirk farewell tours are interminable

You have to hand it to the NBA, the one league where the players seem to be fucking it up not the owners.

Question to ponder: Will Brady’s career outlast the careers of any of the 1st round picks of the 2019 draft? Looking at recent draft history, the most recent draft picks to not be in the league are CB Justin Gilbert, S Calvin Pryor, and QB Johnny Manziel. If Teddy Bridgewater’s knee injury was a bit worse, he could have joined them.

I don’t know if four years of no total flameouts is a common draft result, but if Brady plays 3 more years could there be a few flameouts due to Injury, Off Field incidences, or total suckitude? Or could Brady hang on until some the first rounders start to fall off? Manziel was out of the league pretty quick, if I recall.

In any case, if I set the O/U of 1.5 draft members will be out of the NFL before Brady retires, where’d your money go?

Was listening to Sebastian Maniscalco on Pete & Sebastian on Sirius talking about being at the Oscars. Apparently he was in Green Book. It’s a funny listen.

It’s also available as a podcast; one of my favorites. Couple of reasons. It’s been amazing to watch Sebastianss meteoric rise to stardom over the past 4-5 years. When it started, he and Pete were basically on the same level. Now Sebastian is selling out MSG four nights in a row, and Pete is still playing The chuckle Huts in Peoria. Says a lot about Pete that he seems genuinely happy for Sebastian, and loves hearing the stories about how his life has changed as much as I do.

It helps that Sebastian, (who made 18 Million last year JUST from standup..no Netflix special sold, etc) has remained humble, appreciative, and amazed at his success. Found it really cool that he was a waiter at the Oscars a few years ago, and now he was the 4th lead in the Best Picture. The fact that that failed to get him a seat at the main table and they put him in the third balcony was bad for him, great for the show. The fact that he failed  to be in the right place to make it on stage, and actually fell down the steps at the theater are icing on the cake.

He has a chance to challenge John Cazale; Green book was his first movie; he also has a part in The Irishman, which I read is an early favorite for best picture next year.

Warning: as you can tell, I love the podcast. Be warned, however, that BSMW favorite JJ Watt is also a big fan, and is an occasional guest (I believe he’s the only guest they’ve ever had). Even worse, he sounds like a really nice guy, and I actually like him now. Ding away, Ozzie.

The Anthony Davis Reduced Minutes Tour  is pathetic.

The Nationals marketing group got Harper to say he can’t wait to bring a title to DC.  Fenway group just slipped to 3rd

Wasn’t he in that Will Ferrell/Amy Poehler home casino movie? Albeit briefly. The story was great and I agree those guys seem like good guys to root for.

Today’s Globe sports section has 3 articles from KP DuPont. Does the world need that?

He wrote for that Kevin James show, Kevin Can Wait or some shit.  From recent podcasts he mentioned going to CA for various pitches.

On another entertainment note I watched Crazy Rich Asians with the wife last night.  Wasn’t terrible by any stretch but the highlight was when Jian Yang from Silicon Valley showed up.  That guy is great.  Ken Jeong’s 15 minutes can end any time now.

Kyrie complaining about cameras taking pictures of him as he enters the arena, like no athlete in the history of ever has had to deal with that.  I can’t imagine how he put up with cameras on the Uncle Drew set!
