Hypothesis: Everyone in the league has lost their damn mind except for Bill and possibly the Browns.

The browns gave 50 million dollars yesterday to a guy with a year left on his deal and who has played 15 games the last 2 seasons.  But no argument on the Patriots

Gonna miss Sheard.  He seemed to come big on a regular basis.

But getting Ealy for 8 spots in the draft will lessen the sting.

And Barnwell gave that signing an “A” in his recap of the day’s transactions.

Brandon Cooks to the Pats as well.

TRADE! The Patriots have traded their #32 & 3rd #103 pick to the Saints for wide receiver Brandin Cooks & their 4th #118 pick per sources

edit: ya, about a week behind

Now they trade Jimmy to get that first rounder back.  I think Butler isn’t going anywhere after this.

I don’t think he was going anywhere no matter what the experts said. It made no sense.

And Hogan. And maybe one deep ball to Slater.

Say because of the first round pick, someone signs Butler to a Logan Ryan type deal, 4 years $40 million.

    Match it?

I was talking about this with a buddy.  This seems to make a ton of sense.  I’d match that in a second.  That could be an all-time defense, provided they re-sign Hightower too.

Don’t forget Lewis either on offense. Another year off ACL he should be even better next year and he’s a tough matchup in passing game.

Keep Hightower and Butler and trade Jimmy for a first rounder to draft an impact linebacker barring injury the are the favorites.

Geez  a first and third is more than Bill has ever invested in the WR position. Never thought he’d do that much.

    A dizzying offseason.

Why can’t teams just assume that if New England is interested in trading with you, you shouldn’t do it?

Up and down, mostly good, generally improving, better inside than outside, ended this season on a very strong run.

Everyone is talking about how surprised they are that Bill is doing all this.

But isn’t it kind of unprecedented to be coming off a championship, have an insane amount of cap space which mostly needs to be spent, and a number of FA’s in key positions on your own team? When was the last time they were in this position where all these factors happen at once? Never?

All these years we may have been a bit harsh on what it feels like to win the offseason.

Assuming they don’t get back high picks in future deals…

Are they doing this because the draft is considered deep and they feel they can get solid guys in Rds 3,4,5 without taking guys higher and paying more?

    Some other reason?

Bennett got 3yrs/18.9mil from the Packers.

Didn’t the Pats offer him 7mil per? How long was that rumored to be for?

And didn’t he want like 10-11mil a year?

Clearly he’s retiring after this year so he doesn’t care about future picks.

I just hope Rex doesn’t expect Bill to kiss his off-season championship rings.

If they do win Bill should get a canoe and call it One Ring.

Would take about 3 minutes to decide to match that one. And that’s only to allow for a quick call to see if that team will give you more than the 1st for him – just in case.

Mike obviously Brady is retiring after this year!!! Trading a first for a wide receiver? Refusing to trade Jimmy? C’mon Mike ITS OBVIOUS!!! This is it!!!

Was lucky enough to turn on EEI just now. Mensa candidate Alvin explained how Brady is going to be traded because Bill knows TB is retiring after next season or will be traded and Jimmy is the best backup Bill has ever had. Better than “Damien” Huard and Matt “Cassler.”
