Crosby is a sneaky dirty player who has the PR machine behind him to explain away anything he does and keep his rep clean. Marchand had the opposite PR machine and will always be branded that way. He is going to have to understand that anything he does will be punished where it may not be for others.
What Marchand did is a penalty and he has to know better. But it is far from the level of horror with which it is described. But that is the way it is going to be for him and he had better get used to it.
April 7, 2017 at 12:40 pm #96351If I’m on the Smokey jury I want to wrap things up and not come back Monday.
Just read it took his first jury more than 35 hours to convict. Bet this one is quicker (the other way).

Agree on both.
Haven’t followed daily but it looks like motive (spilled drink) is weak and the weapon can’t directly implicate him.
Plus the jury can always fall back on that at the end of the day he’s still doing life in jail. (subject to appeals/overturn).
April 7, 2017 at 12:50 pm #96355I’m not certain of the verdict. I watched quite a bit of it. The state did put most of their stock in One-Eye, who is clearly a scumbag, but, there is plenty of evidence to put Hernandez at the scene, in the car, hiding the car, family lying for him, etc…
But, it’s a jury of “his peers”, and having done jury duty, anything is possible.
April 7, 2017 at 12:53 pm #96357April 7, 2017 at 12:55 pm #96358What’s he charged with? I assume there’s more than just the straight murder and there’s probably enough to convict on any conspiracy type charges.
ed:
Two counts of murder—one for de Abreu and one for Furtado. If the jury finds Hernandez guilty of murder, they will decide if it constitutes first- or second-degree murder, with the criteria for first degree being a murder committed with “extreme atrocity and cruelty.”
Three counts of armed assault with intent to murder—one count for each of the three passengers in the BMW who were not murdered with de Abreu and Furtado.
One count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
One count of assault and battery by means of a deadly weapon.
One witness intimidation charge relating to Bradley.-

I hate seeing the NHL do those public explanations of the penalty/shaming and then acting like nothing to see here with Crosby. That’s the NFL’s move.
April 7, 2017 at 1:02 pm #96361If Smokey walks, Baez, already a well known commodity, has two high proile murder wins under his belt and gets Johnnie Cochran celebrity attorney status.
Sadly.
Pretty sure he was letting child-killer Casey Anthony blow him during her trial. She could barely keep her hands off him in court to the point where he had to restrain her. Barf.

Can’t be a sports league without being at least a little bit corrupt I guess, really disappointing.
April 7, 2017 at 1:15 pm #96363Thank God….Larry is okay…
Maybe the overhead projector was just in for repairs. Because it appears the tracing machine is back up and running beautifully.

That’s been confirmed hasn’t it? She’s living with him or someone else from the defense.

Don’t know anything about that! I was under the impression that she and Baez were a deal during her child-killing trial but he seems too smart to get involved with that piece of shit on an ongoing basis.
But what do I know.
April 7, 2017 at 1:37 pm #96369I’m an Olivia Munn fan for life, strictly on the basis of the NSFW Snaps she sent to Chris Pine.
Ooooh, juicy! Love Chris Pine but much like Rodgers, the gay rumors follow him everywhere. NTTAWWT. Maybe Olivia has a type.
April 7, 2017 at 1:45 pm #96370Get on this NASCL The skeletal remains of a woman have been discovered in woods off High Street, Dedham.
“Correction – the skeletal remains of a woman was just Bill Simmons standing near the edge of the woods.”

Does this rule out Simmons? 😆
Remains are that of a young black woman around 5’7″ found wearing #Marist College sweatshirt, bangle bracelet & ring.

If further description says “evidence is that the woman was funny and witty” then I will exclude Simmons.

Do we need a backup from KMAC on this?

Hello Mr. Blandino?
Ron Borges calling, Hightower was lined up in the neutral zone, strip sack doesn’t count.

Dammit. Made me look. I’d stop trying to figure out how to link.

April 7, 2017 at 5:07 pm #96409April 7, 2017 at 5:35 pm #96410Ha! http://bsmw.net/BSMW_Discussion_Board/topic/04052017-daily-thread/#post-96071 I’d probably agree but since I was in the thick of the YES camp it was soooo fun taking away Town Meeting from those that love it the most.
What are the elderly going to do on Monday nights in the spring?
They can attend city council meetings year round and spout off during the public participation time. Whoopeeeeee
PS- Our town meeting is T-W-Th every week until the warrant is dissolved. Takes us 4-5 weeks
where everyone else does it in 2-3 nights. That’s why city won.

April 7, 2017 at 7:06 pm #96412Our group just got an email from a vendor with an invoice and a guy on my team responded “fuck u”. About 15 minutes later he sent an apology, with the excuse of “I’ve been getting a lot of spam lately” which is about the worst excuse ever. It’s going to make me laugh all weekend.
Also, speaking of Framingham and dipshits, I saw Joe Gill’s name on the email list at Exhibit A this afternoon. His email address is Boston_bruins99e@yahoo.com or something similar. Guys in their 40’s should probably have email addresses that are just some variation of their name. No wonder he can’t get a job other than Twitter intern. Fucking donkey.

Easy? All I heard earlier in the week is that just talking about a football game that you’re watching is extremely difficult and stressful. Filling up a blank page/screen with words must be nearly impossible compared to that.
