Woj says Horford is likely gone

Nice guy, good player but I don’t see giving 33 year old big men 4 year deals.

Danny is being disciplined. Not sure what to make of it.

Agreed, giving Horford 4 years wouldn’t be wise.  They also have 3 picks coming in.  Basically you’d be signing him to be an expiring contract in 3 years

i agree. By the way, what team(s) does signing Horford to that sort of deal make sense for?

That’s a solid question, but he and his representation seem confident they can find a 4 year deal (or at worst a 3) with a team closer to contention than the C’s.

I think, if it were me, I would do what it takes to pry Clint Capela from the Rockets, OR a smaller deal for Okafor who I think had his team option picked up. Either one of them with Hayward, Tatum, Brown and Smart (or Rosier with Smart coming off the bench), a more developed Williams and rookies to be named later might not win as many games as the last 2 years, but it would be a step in the right direction.

Retain the Memphis pick.  At all costs.

The haters of the Pats like Felger are lapping up the Volin piece like its gospel. Volin hates the Pats so anything he writes needs to be taken as a hit piece not fact.

Everyone needs to realize Ainge took a risk and did nothing to have the ammo for Davis. It doesn’t look good at this point but we need to wait and see. Maybe he needs to see if the kids can back up all the bitching they did this year. It could be Brown and Tatums team now so they need to back up all the bitching.

I don’t remember a lot of bitching from either of them.  Their veteran PG however…

I am taking some schadenfreude from the fact that the Lakers look like they will be surrounding LeBron (old and due to break down) and Davis (young and made of glass) with Kuzma and 9 guys from the Inglewood Y

And I’d be surprised if Lebron breaking down last year was a fluke and not the new normal.

It’s funny how the Celtics and Lakers handle their alumni.  Whereas Ainge proved his mettle as a coach, etc before becoming GM, they hire Pelinka basically because he was Kobe’s agent, Kurt Rambis’ wife (!) has an outsized voice in the organization, Magic is allowed to treat the president’s job like he’s a greeter at a casino.  If the Lakers were in Chicago they’d never make the playoffs again under the Buss failchildren

Some folks in the media are absolutely delighted with what’s happening to the Celtics.

And yet, when a paper closes down or a radio station downsizes we are supposed to feel sorry for them.

The best part of the Davis trade is him refusing to waive the trade kicker to create more cap space.  That’s unreal.  Guy bitches that he wants out so he can not only get out to where he wants to go AND get the most money and his first act is to tell his new employer nope fuck you pay me.  I don’t care what you surround me with, I’m not here to win.  Help?  Sorry assholes, help yourselves. Maybe it’s a union thing where the players union says hey don’t waive trade kickers it will ruin them for everyone else but still.  What a dick.  And then the Lakers go back to the Pelicans um yeah gee sorry we trashed your organization all winter and just took your best player but could you do us a solid and delay the paperwork on the trade so we can be in a better position to beat you in the conference and at the same time make the draft picks we traded you have less value?  That would be great, thanks!

    Speaking of the Memphis pick

The Memphis Grizzlies have traded guard Mike Conley to the Utah Jazz for Grayson Allen, Kyle Korver and Jae Crowder, the 23rd pick in Thursday’s draft and a future first-round pick, league sources told ESPN.

His trade kicker is 4 million bucks.  Jesus Christ, yeah that’s real money but when you’re already making $27 million and are now up for the max or maybe even super max you can’t let that money go to get the team around you better?  What the fuck.

The Davis trade couldn’t be finalized until July 6th anyway, some fakakta rule or other.

Watch Danny try to shoehorn his way into that.  Also, he will make a play to sign & trade Kyrie to Brooklyn for sure.

Will Davis not be eligible for the supermax if he resigns w/LA before next summer? (same reason why Kyrie didn’t extend last fall, before all the nonsense)  I’d say there’s a non-zero chance Davis plays this year, sees what it’s like being LeBron’s bitch and playing with a bunch of flotsam, and walks across the hall to the Clippers as a UFA next year.  callyourdrafter4hrs.jpg

If its Wednesday I guess that means Barstool has to be shitting on Josh Gordon yet again. Fuck them. And good for Gordon. I want him to come back and catch 30 TD’s just to shove it in the face of all the hot takerzzzz.

The NESN News lady (McDonald, I think) had a blurb on last nights game where she apologized for saying something that ‘may have offended some viewers’. What did I miss?

“It’s very disgusting — a Memphis Red Birds fan just shoveling mayo out of a giant tub into his mouth with a giant spoon,” said McDonnell, who joined NESN in August 2016. “It looks like he spilled a little bit on his T-shirt, on his guinea tee there.”

Right, but I think there is some cap thing where if they delay the finalization date until the end of July they get more space.

Surprised they have the time to spare what with all the Kirk Unleashed! fanfare and debating whether some would have been funny gag on Stern 30 years ago will result in losing a lawsuit.  All of the weirdo Portnoy shit is scary, like people really sit there all day saying ha ha don’t fuck with El Prez like he’s going to put you in his will or some such.

Who’s on Vogel’s staff, I think it’s Kidd, Hollins and Shaw.  3 former NBA coaches.  All Davis and his agent have to do is say ‘eh, you don’t get to be a free agent very often, amirite?’ and it’s one of those 3.

Well at least their veteran superstar has a long, unblemished record of not throwing coaches under the…..

I saw this on twitter yesterday, so I can’t take credit for it, but someone raised an important question about Volin’s report/opinion: If Volin hadn’t gone on Houston radio and admitted that he had no sources for the story and it was his personal view of the matter, would any of the local stations ever asked him about the basis for his story?

Some of the local media believe the story is factual* even though Volin admitted it was only his opinion, so it would be universally accepted as fact if no one ever asked Volin about the basis for his article.

*Felger claimed Borges’ article based on his texts and conversations with Fake Don Yee was, what, 90% accurate?
