So he was about to do a radio hit and decided that was a good time to run an errand?  Wouldn’t you do that after you completed the radio segment and  do the segment from the comfort of your apartment in Brooklyn, where you live?

Cal Ripken got pulled over like a decade ago doing a call in to ESPN radio.  It was on the news and everything.  Mostly forgotten over the next couple of days.  If people are still talking about it it’s because the perp is himself still talking about it and being an asshole, and of course people are taking great joy in that sanctimonious fuck getting his while of course still managing to be sanctimonious about it.

Poor Fatty. He loves being the “conscious of America” giving his finger wag out to all that don’t meet his high moralistic standards. Yet when it’s him he can’t understand all of the hub bub.

Maybe if he stuck to football on the field no one would have gave a shit.

Looking at Fattys weekly cesspool it’s probably 1/4 actual football reporting, 1/4 football finger waving and 1/2 nothing to do with football.

Then he wonders why he gets shit from everyone.

“My heart is heavy for you and the Banks family. You, Don, and Dr. Z helped make me into the educated football fan I am today.”Guy must be a complete and absolute dumbass football wise.

“In the late nineties all of you were go-to reading each week.” It’s the late teens, thanks for mailing it in for nearly 20 years.

“I love the Yankees-White Sox in Dyersville, Iowa, for a real game next August. Fantastic idea, playing a game at the Field of Dreams.” Of course you do, that’s why it  pays $2.20

I implore you, TownePlace Suites and SpringHill Suites: Please at least try with your coffee in the morning. It’s dreadful, the kind of coffee-flavored water travelers drink mindlessly because they have no other option.”   :pk: You are the me of coffee! :pk:

That was a chick and she also learned about the death from reading King’s drivel, so not the educated fan she claims to be.

For Simone Biles to still not trust USA Gymnastics says so much about that organization. How can so much time have passed since the greatest athlete in the last summer games was traumatized by the Larry Nassar scandal, and how can USA Gymnastics have let its brightest star still be driven to tears by its inaction? There should be no higher priority for the federation than to devote every resource to be sure Biles and her peers feel safe in their training and their treatment.

Terrible writing, he makes it seem as though if you have a victim of Biles’s stature still traumatized that means you do something.  If it was a bunch of non medal winning women still affected, eh, maybe you sit on it?  He’s such a horrible asshole.

We depart Dulles for Detroit. We miss the connection by 10 minutes. We re-book on a 5:40 p.m. flight to SFO, and I watch Matt Barnes blow a 4-3 lead on the TV in the bar. Angels 5, Red Sox 4, 10 innings. Another cab, barkeep.

What a dickface.  Drinking shitty cabernet at an airport bar.  Probably drunk snored on the Detroit-San Fran leg.

All actually is well. Pilot lands the plane the old-fashioned way, by his wits.

Hardo Pete probably lectured the interns on how a real man lands an airliner.  None of these computers or runway visual aids, just balls and grit.  When men were men.  If they were smart they probably asked the bartender to keep the cabs coming.

Anyone who says they learned anything from that shithead Zimmerman is themselves a shithead.  “Dr. Z” fuck you with that doctor shit.

Zimmerman was opinionated and notorious among colleagues for refusing to back down from a football argument he believed in. Nor should he have, for long before the All-22 video was available to any writer or fan with an interest, Zimmerman was known for taping games and meticulously breaking down the nuances, particularly interior line play.

Again the hardo he was opinionated and never considered any other thought other than his own is somehow a badge of honor with these assholes.  And he was so great because he predated the VCR guys in Cincinnati?  Terrific.

Some Kevin Clark writer I’ve never heard of

“In the summer of 2012, before I started writing about football for the first time that fall, I read Dr. Z’s book and then I read probably 50 Dr. Z SI articles. It made me infinitely smarter about the sport and how to approach the sport. He ruled.’’

So you read Zimmerman’s book and articles to prepare to be a football writer.  How about being your own person/writer, isn’t that what your parents sent you to school for?  He ruled?  Like that O’Doyle family in Billy Madison?  Pathetic.

Here’s one from good friend Seth Wickersham

“There was nothing like sitting next to Dr. Z in the press box. He had charts, pens, highlighters, notebooks, grunts, mutterings, and a stopwatch. He was covering a game you didn’t know existed. He also felt no guilt about his materials invading your space. He had earned it.’

A stopwatch?  Oh he must be smart.  He grunts and mutters, he must know things!  He earned being an asshole apparently.  I guess Seth learned to write investigative pieces with 90+ unnamed sources from stopwatch man.  Maybe he just didn’t get the names of the sources because they grunted and muttered.  What a goddamn assfuck.

Still debating whether to read it since it’s Buckley, but the header pic for his Mike Lynch story is amazing.

“Bone issue” for Andrew Luck?  That sounds good.  Would assume Irsay could just get him hooked on pills and run him out there.  Also love how much Irsay talks, I can’t imagine Kraft holding court on player injuries.

    @bhofheimer_espn

.@WerderEdESPN was a fixture on ESPN from 1998-2017. Very excited he’s returning to the company as a Dallas-based reporter for SportsCenter and our studio programs.

Great. So you’re rehiring a guy you fired 2 years ago as a ‘Dallas based reporter’ so basically an Ezekiel Elliot stalker and how sad is it the fired guy couldn’t find shit in 2 years so he takes a job as a tmz shitbird.

I can only imagine how giddy Ed was to change his twitter handle from @WerderEdRFA (or whatever corny thing he had after ESPN let him go) to @WerderEdESPN. I can’t believe there was a huge drop off in Cowboys coverage over the last two years and viewers were clamoring for that “Werder difference.”  My best guess would be that one of Ed’s old friends at ESPN finally got enough leverage to bring him back. I do hope they screwed him on his benefits and PTO – “Yes, you were here for 19 years, but since your absence from the company was more than 12 months, you’re PTO will be the same as a new hire. I’m sorry.”

The pandering ESPN and NFLN do to a team that last won anything 23 years ago makes me fervently hope that the Dallas Cowboys remain irrelevant for the rest of my life, and I’d like to live a good deal longer.

Mittens with a look-at-me, tough-guy-journo piece in The Baseball Paper in which he goes to Gainesville in search of rehabbing WR Josh Gordon so he can ask him a few questions that the fanz deserve answers to, like: What the hell happened last December to make you fall off the wagon, bro? I’m no specialist in addiction or recovery, but WTF kind of question is that for a stranger to ask someone? He’s not Gordon’s sponsor. He’s not even his friend. This is as bad as Fatty asking the GI how many enemy he killed in Iraq. It’s voyeurism, plain and simple. What an asshole.

SPOILER ALERT: Ace reporter Tennis-Ball Head never found Gordon. Predictably. But he pronounces Gordon’s recovery to be “tenuous.”

In addition to being in poor taste, why is the Globe wasting resources sending Volin to Florida when there was a very real possibility there would be no story? The Red Sox and Patriots weren’t in that part of the country, so it wasn’t piggybacked off a legitimate reason to travel. On the other hand, sending Volin to Gainesville in August with almost no chance of finding his interview subject may have been a joke at Ben’s expense. If so, then I applaud the Globe management.

23 blown saves by August 13 with a 2 billion dollar payroll is a damn sin (I still hold to the point that ‘save’ is a fake and meaningless stat but whatever). This team is amazingly bad with unreal seasons wasted from Devers and Bogaerts. The team is top 3 in most offensive categories and will struggle to be a .500 team.

I haven’t looked but there can’t be a lot of Sox with 6 hits. Nomar, Remy….I know none of the other big names ever did it.

Remy’s was in a 20 inning game where he had 10 ABs.  Looks like Pete Runnels in 1960 and Jimmy Piersall in ’53.

    Remy’s line from September 3, 1981:

    AB/R/H/2B/3B/HR/RBI/BB/PS*

    10/2/6/0/0/0/1/0/6*

    *Packs smoked.

EDIT: Red Sox lost to Seattle, 8-7. Stanley took the L. Sox tied the game with three in the bottom of the ninth. There were 47 hits (23 by Boston) total. This was the strike year; Remy batted .307 in 88 games, coming back from his 1980 knee injury.
