Sure can’t wait to see the Super Bowl Champions open the season on Thursday, as is traditional. Yep.

As Thursday approaches this bothers me way more than I thought it would. Plus that fuckface Rodgers and associated storylines.

The solution seems so simple: Have the Super Bowl champions open on Thursday night, keeping with the new tradition and have the Packers-Bears as the Sunday night game. If we’re talking about it’s importance in the league’s history, football on Sunday is a cornerstone of the NFL. I can see not having Green Bay and Chicago as “just another” 1 PM game, but having them play on Sunday seems like a pretty important link to the past. They could have lead up programming throughout the day on all the affiliated networks leading up to the game that night. I’m just a fan though, so what do I know?

6 years and $90 mil for Zeke in Dallas. Gotta love Uncle Jerry. After they over spend for Cooper and Prescott it will be those 3 and 50 other guys making the veteran minimum. Good luck with that.

They did Elliot 2 years early.  Great precedent.  Then they just signed some line guy plus they signed Jaylon Smith to a new contract.  No clue what you have left or what the situations are for the other guys on the offensive line like Frederick and Martin.  And Tyrion Smith, they redid his deal a while back now but he’s in it for good money.   Then they have what looks like a decent player in Van Der Esch or whatever his name is on defense.  It will be like when they wildly overpaid Miles Austin however many years too early.  Plus Elliot is fat.

Probably still going to be in better shape than the Rams. That Goff contract is totally insane.

I can’t understand why the Eagles and Rams are guaranteeing over $100 million each to Wentz and Goff.  It’s beyond insane.

The Rams business model is to out spend the Chargers and relegate them permanently to the #2 team in the LA market by the time that new stadium opens. That’s probably worth 350-400 million more in Franchise value. If they somehow win a Superbowl in the next few years that’s a bonus but clearly not the #1 goal. The Rams would never let a star player hold out. Bad optics when winning hearts and minds is Job 1.

Join us for a special book signing with New York Times best selling author Mike Lupica for his new book Strike Zone.A timely and heartfelt follow-up to #1 New York Times bestseller Heat, about a young baseball prodigy and his immigrant family living in today’s America. Twelve-year-old star Little League pitcher Nick Garcia has a dream. Several in fact. He dreams he’ll win this season’s MVP and the chance to throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium. He dreams he’ll meet his hero, Yankee’s pitcher Michael Arroyo. He dreams they’ll find a cure for Lupus so he sister won’t have to suffer. But mostly, he dreams one day his family can stop living in fear of the government.

Barrington books.  Should I go to this and see if he’ll sit in my lap for a picture?

    Yes, except:

    1. Rank-and-file TV viewers are sick of Brady, Belichick and the Patriots. (And yet if the Cows had won three of the last five Super Bowls, they would be in prime time tonight and all 17 weeks.) (Also: if fans are sick of the Patriots, why do their big in-season games get such big ratings? It’s not all New England-driven, give that the Boston-Providence-Worcester TV market isn’t even top five anymore.)
    2. But more importantly, the owners are sick of Kraft raising banners and raising the market value of his franchise. Personally, I think Robert should dial back his profile a bit, given that he famously had his own flag raised — and lowered — in that Palm Beach establishment last January.

Looks like they have mentions of it in their twitter feed as well.  Guessing they’re involved.

Sounds like the NFL is going to whore out the ‘100’ logo on everything including the balls.  Everyone except the Bears has to wear the 100 patch on their unis and a logo on the back of the helmet.  Ref unis.  It’s going to look like the USFL.

I thought the Ironhead podcast with Petraglia was the best one yet.  They’re a bit too long though, would love to see it cut down by about 10-15 minutes.

Is it crazier than 30 million dollars for Brisett? What would have been the downside of seeing how he plays, then signing him…or not. Find a Ryan Fitzpatrick type to tide you over and draft a QB. Or Actual Ryan Fitzpatrick.

These teams throw money around like a gay cruise that just docked in Key west. Admittedly, you have to have really seen it to get that last part.

I’d say it’s crazier in that the Brissett deal has a fifth of the guaranteed money and is for 2 years.

Tonight is DO YOUR JOB and AMERICA’S GAME.  Tarik and a cloud of dust is tomorrow night.

By the way, Mittens has Nagy on his “hot seat” list for 2019 because of Chicago’s placekicker woes. Really? After he goes 12-4 in 2018 with a rookie QB who may be a franchise QB and leads them into the playoffs?

Per impeccable source, Pierre McGuire has been removed from NBC Sports’ No. 1 hockey team, to be replaced by Brian Boucher.

    That’s a shame.

I was always hoping for a stray puck to take out Pierre while on the air.

Like most sideline reporters he adds very little to the broadcast.
