It’s more about a billionaire’s family.  I’m fine with it, the Culkin brother is great.  The heir apparent plays the tool role well, and Cameron from Ferris Bueller is good as the off the reservation sibling.  Actually so is the suck up almost son in law.  I’ll watch anything with Brian Cox.

I might hate watch that Yellowstone series on Paramount.  Has ‘awesomely terrible’ potential.

I was ready to ascribe the board’s Cobra Kai endorsement to your This is Us blind spot, without having watched it.  Just finished the first episode, holy shit so good.  Does the rest hold up?

You would think that would be a good way to end the series.  I don’t know if it’s already scheduled for a 3rd season but what’s the point, all of the character/story arcs are sufficiently resolved.  Of course I’m sure they’ll go back to the well.

Well, yeah. Delores is apparently loose in the “real” world with all the host data, and Bernard wants to stop her. You can still go anywhere with that.

Is it weird to still like Westworld even though I have no idea what is going on about 85% of the time? 😆

It’s really well shot/acted, I honestly didn’t think this season was a tough follow.  Was just more Jonathan Nolan style non-linear timelines.

Its coming back for a 3rd season. Since no one is ever really dead I suppose the story lines could go anywhere. A drinking buddy who has worked on the set of both seasons has said its by far the most confusing thing he’s ever been a part of where normally when you’re working you can sort of get an idea of the story or what the plot is supposed to be even though its shot in pieces and in different locations. He said that its impossible for this show. They still have the set for the town of Sweetwater partially up and it can be seen through the trees (barely) when driving up near where I live.

I love the show but wasn’t a huge fan of the ending. It sort of makes sense and was one of the few ways to get the hosts off the island without a lot of carnage.

I liked the idea of Charlotte/Dolores getting out to wreak whatever havoc and just leaving it at that.  I really liked the Ashley Stubbs bit revealing him as a host because he was mostly useless throughout.  The William/Man in Black utterance of “oh fuck” was terrific.  A 3rd season to me is mostly Charlotte/Delores v. Bernard, which on the surface I don’t know if I care that much about it.

Heard on a podcast that Westworld is the most expensive show HBO does and their ratings don’t measure up to the cost.  Speculation is they’re getting one more season to wrap up the story (i.e. The Leftovers) and that they killed off all those characters at the end of S2 partially to save $$ on the the cast.

You still might have the plot point of trying to figure out who is a host and who isn’t because Delores has the host-making machine and all the spheres with the data. My guess is her plan is to reconstitute the hosts (like Teddy and others) in the real world and use them to try and take over. How many hosts in high-level positions who replace their “real” versions would it take?

Without knowing how this future society is constructed, it seems incredibly implausible for a few hosts to literally take over the world full of (presumably) hundreds of millions of people.

Not to say that she still doesn’t have that goal, but it’s a go nowhere plot if you ask me.

Heavily implied, but like always you don’t know 100% for sure.  It was how he talked about his directives/drives to Halores on the beach at the end.

I don’t think he is. I think he’s just fed up with the way the humans are behaving in relation to the hosts, and the willingness of the company to just threaten and kill people to protect their position. He has an ethical problem with it, and he doesn’t like being pushed around by shitty people. Why should he have loyalty to these terrible people, just because he’s drawing a paycheck from them?

One of the show’s creators seemed to indicate he is in an interview, original question was if Stubbs knew Charlotte was now Delores

It is safe to assume. And there is a step further that you can assume too. And we don’t say it explicitly, but if you are left wondering with all [Stubbs’] talk, his knowing talk about, “I’ve been at the park a very long time,” and Ford designed him with certain core drives, and he’s gonna stick to the role he’s been programmed with; it’s a little acknowledgement of just why he might have his suspicions about what’s going on with Hale, and then lets her pass.

And doesn’t it make sense if you are Ford and designing a park and you have a whole master plan about helping robots that you would keep one Host hiding in plain sight as a fail-safe? Maybe the Host who’s in charge of quality assurance? And by the way, that was totally meant to be subtle.

Finally started this weekend, and have gotten through five episodes.

It’s not nearly as fun as Billions, but I like it.

Edit: Succession, that is. No idea how WordPress edited that quote.

Agreed, it only has a couple of fun moments per episodes but it’s still good.  The long lost grand nephew guy is stellar.  And Matthew McFayden (sp) is great as the pathetically whipped suck up.  And of course Cameron from Ferris Bueller is great.  Brian Cox.  Fuck it, it’s good.

I also have been half hate half like watching Yellowstone.  Surprise nudity and cussing.  Scenery is great.  Took me forever to figure out Cole Hauser, he’s put on some pounds.

Holy shit yes.  In less able hands it would come off as melodrama/farce- the sheer amount of shit that went down.  But they made it plausible.  And that last scene was stunning.  I’m convinced the last people left standing are going to be Logan’s wife and doofus Greg

No doubt on Greg specifically with the knowledge of the cruise line scandal and the copies of certain documents he made. The Kendall character has to be washed out now.

And Greg knows about Kendall looking for blow, not sure if he knew it was the waiter guy that ended up dead that he was sending Kendall to but he knows Kendall’s issues. Greg the Egg.

I got tired of BCS midway last season.  It’s taking way too long.  Also found I don’t really care that much about these characters’ backstories and how it all came to be.  And cameos just for the sake of it.  Saul was mostly comedy relief. I’d be more interested in what happened with Grey Matter and that broad he was involved with before the dreaded Skyler.

I suppose but then how is Mike supposed to become the killer he is if he cant take care of Kai?

Figured Billy Burr would have been one of the crew of security guys.

I think the show has this and one more season which should be plenty.

In Breaking Bad Saul is basically doing what the Vet does, so at what point does the Vet become irrelevant?

They can make Saul appear younger and Chuck definitely looked younger but Kim always looks the same age.

Just tore through The First on Hulu in the last couple of days.  Not bad.  Gets a little slow and drawn out, but it’s visually beautiful.  Cool representation of the “tech” of 10-15 years from now.

Was flipping channels last night between the Sox, Scarface* and a DVRd Better Call Saul.

Got to see the 1983 Mark Margolis get blown away more or less as the 2018 Mark Margolis was checking out some nurse’s butt. And Don Eladio’s in Scarface too.

*Showtime is playing that and Inglourious Basterds to death the past month.

Good point. At this point the only part of Inglourious I can watch is the Operation Kino scene with Mike Myers and the basement shootout. After that, I’ve watched it once to many.

    Blow up your televisions

Fox is developing a single-camera comedy series inspired by the “Property Brothers” Jonathan and Drew Scott, Variety has learned. The series is titled “It Takes Two,” based on the Scott brothers’ memoir of the same name. The show follows two entrepreneurial twin brothers who decide to join forces in the real estate business when they realize they are stronger together

I’m around 3 episodes in on the new season.  So basically the main broad is now a whore since she thinks her old boyfriend is dead, but he’s not dead, he’s just burnt to a crisp.  I wish they’d skip all the weirdo films bullshit and traveling between different outcomes or what the fuck ever.  They should just stick with the narrative that the US lost the war and the resistance.  The guy who plays Himmler reminds me of Richard Dysart from ’80s stuff like LA Law and the bad guy in Pale Rider.  That guy doesn’t get enough credit for his acting chops.  He’s the patriarchal type figure in a law firm, and a bad guy business man in a Western.  Good in both.  Of course Michael Moriarty just plays a constant fucking pussy.

So Ray Donovan jumped off the roof of a 10 story building into the East River…and lived? Figured that was going to be written off as a hallucination.

A couple of blasts from the past this season: Herc Hauk from The Wire and Agent Ciccorelli from The Sopranos.
