Petty not being able to understand or not being on the same plane with Iovine was good insight into how artists and business guys differ.  This is going to buy you a new house! didn’t resonate at all with Petty.  Made me think of how he was cool with whatever British guy ripped off one of his songs but gave Petty credit for it or at least acknowledged that he ripped it off, Petty wasn’t looking for a ton of money from what I recall.

Just picked up HBO again and started in on Silicon Valley. Russ listing all the types of gay dudes was tremendous.

My nanny got another DUI and now I’m stuck picking up my own kid like an asshole.

Didn’t think the third episode would hold up, but I guess I didn’t see them doing so much on Snoop and Tupac. Still good.

I found it was all available On Demand so I polished it off last night.  I liked all the business shit with the headphones/streaming.  I’ve never been a big Eminem fan but thought his contributions to the doc were great, especially when he was talking about getting frustrated with the headphone stuff.

I powered through the whole season the last two nights. Still as funny as anything else on TV but they’ve really lost their way with the story.

Or maybe that’s part of the plan, to keep them in an endless cycle of shitty stuff happening to them. I think that’ll suck if it happens next season too. There’s room for them to find financial success but also be very funny.

Read a recent interview with TJ Miller and it was pretty interesting.  Sounds like he wanted off the show not because he didn’t like it but because he felt the Ehrlich character needed to go.  When they wrote it so that he could potentially return and if he’d be interested in a few episodes at some point he said no and mostly because of that cycle of shitty stuff and bringing back Ehrlich didn’t make any sense.

I’d like to see more Russ and less Monica from the investing side.  Monica’s character is pretty useless at this point.  Maybe they can parlay a Gilfoyle-Jin Yang rivalry.

Was it the Hollywood Reporter interview?

It was interesting. He trashes one of the producers, Alec Berg. He says he likes the show, but won’t watch it thought it got lazy with the up and down nature of the story. He said Middleditch is great, but there are a few points where I inferred that he didn’t care for him.

    Come back, Regular Brian.

    My agenda is truth.

Looks like it.  I missed that Alec Berg line, although he just kind of throws it out there that he didn’t talk to him and didn’t like him.

Watched “The F Word” last night as it had 4 guys from the neighborhood on it competing including one of my classmates in grammar school; I cannot believe that show exists. WTF. They did a segment with Marlon Wayans where Wayans is describing food to Gordon Ramsay behind a changing wall; as the segment started, Wayans was screwing around with his cell phone for the first 30 seconds as he apparently didn’t realize they were live. They had a wildly bad taped comedy skit where Ramsay dressed up as a bad waiter in his Vegas restaurant that would have been cut from a high school sketch comedy. I’m getting the DC’s just thinking about it. Unfortunately, the North Enders won so there’s a chance I might have to watch a second episode.

Come on now, ITT favorite Westworld got 22!  I’m happy for Gerald McRaney, about time his Simon & Simon work was recognized.  And of course Detective Box.

None for Leftovers. I think McKean may be a victim of timing on the nomination voting. Should have got one anyway, but the last couple eps should have locked it in.

That was Jorah that Sam encountered at the end of his scene, right?

Good start I thought. Got right too it. Figured Ed Sheeran would wind up dead but I guess there’s still time.

Yes – Jorah for sure. The Sam soup/poop montage may not have been necessary (I’m sure Vince Gilligan loved it).

Favorite part of that epsisode was Jaime’s assessment of the Greyjoys.

“They’re not good at anything.”

were the Ed Sheerhan group Lannister soldiers?

    Yes.

I’ve given up trying to reconcile time on this show. I stopped assuming things in the same episode all happen along a similar path.

Like the Greyjoys stealing most of, including all the best boats from the Iron Islands and then shortly thereafter Euron has a massive fleet again.

Yeah they’re playing fast and loose with it, still not as bad as Twin Peaks is but at least that seems to have a reason for it.

Wow, I didn’t realize McKean didn’t get one. That’s crazy.

This is going to sound a bit more snarky than intended, but do people care about the Emmys?  I haven’t watched/followed in years, but I was under the impression they were more like the Grammys at this point (Modern Family= U2, etc).
