I rarely read fiction anymore but read a book last year Underground Airline about slavery still being legal in 4 states or so.  Liked it a lot

    This has potential

HBO reveals the next series from the ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners

    • The creators and showrunners of “Game of Thrones” announced their new HBO series “Confederate” on Wednesday.
    • The show takes place in an alternate universe where the southern states successfully seceded from the Union, preserving the institution of slavery.
    • The news comes as the highly rated “Game of Thrones” approaches its end.

Reminds me of a book I read a while back-Guns of the South.  Sort of similar-was about people who figured out how to travel back in time and supply the south with automatic weapons in an effort to win the Civil War.  Was OK

Ozark rules. The paramour in Ep 1 – they didn’t show his face but that smarmy voice was unmistakeable if you’re a Sopranos fan.

GoT lesson: don’t bring a whip to an axe fight.

Euron really knows how to make an entrance.

For a eunuch, Grey Worm knew his way around the mound.

Liked how they did the Araya scene in the woods, figured it was the White Walkers and not wolves.  Get the feeling that’s gonna be a Bugs Bunny I knew I shoulda made that left turn at Albuquerque moment with her changing direction from Westeros to Winterfell.

Wolves set up for a nice deus ex machina arya-saving moment this season or next.

Wow, that scene where Bateman is walking up to his building!

Of course the gals at the Ringer think she’s the only redeemable part of the show!

Only two episodes in, but I like it and there’s nothing else besides GoT on.

I find Preacher episodes piling up on the DVR with no desire to watch them.

The Google machine tells me that Laura Linney is only five years older than Jason Bateman. She looks fifteen.

Twin Peaks has been great, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

I could never get through the original. The worst!

It’s much more Lynch’s later work, not a weird take on soap opera drama that the original cbs show was.  If you liked Mulholland Drive type weirdness you might like this.

The original was of a time, definitely.  I loved it unabashedly (at least the first 1.5 seasons) but have never revisited it, nor will I.  It was just mind blowing that something that aggressively weird was on network TV in 1990.  Haven’t watched the new ones yet.

yeah the mid-to back half of season 2 were awful because they forced Lynch out.  He came back to salvage it in the last 6 episodes at least.  The movie and this current series are very very different things though.  Familiar faces but a completely different style.

“Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” to open the fourth episode? It’s okay, you already got me!

Dany is down with fire breathing flying lizards and the idea that she’s impervious to fire, but ice zombies? Get the fuck outta here!

Euron’s got a bit of Scaramucci in him.

So who picked up Theon, was it what was remaining of their fleet?

Good death scenes last night, Cersei with the sand snake chicks and then Lady Fuckface telling Jaime she was the one who killed Joff.

Yep. They hated him already so him bailing on his sis is pretty much what they expected.

See a lot of folks complaining that they’re blasting through a lot so quickly. I think it’s time though. The story has a finite end in sight so they couldn’t drag it out for too many more episodes. Even if next season wasn’t the last.
