GoT felt short..and then I looked and it was the shortest episode to date. If they were still going based on the book and not the new way then either Jaime or Bronn would have died last night. Awesome episode though.

I liked how Daenerys gave Jon the same speech he gave to the king of the Wildlings almost word for word on bending the knee and pride.

I can see why Sansa is always pouting…one sibling is a Ninja, another can see and change time/space and yet another came back from the dead.  I’d probably pout too.

Maybe it’s just the way it was shot so the water was meant to look deep as a reference to Jaime’s current place in the world or whatever, but he was literally just galloping his horse along the shore in shallow water.

How deep could the water actually be where he landed? Does it drop off a cliff 10 feet from shore?

Good catch. Anyway, if they were going to kill him off, they would’ve let the dragon do it. He’s alive.

Also Daenerys jumping off the dragon to tend to the wound didn’t look like a sound battle strategy. If Jaime had just shot her with an arrow….war is over.

Tough to shoot an arrow with one hand.

I liked the Bran/Littlefinger exchange.  The look on LF’s face when Bran repeated his “chaos is a ladder” line was great.

I had to go back and see when LF said that.

    Found this interesting

The sequence directed by Matt Shakman actually set an industry record for setting stuntmen on fire. Oftentimes movies and show use computer effects for fire scenes, but the Thrones showrunners prefer to use real fire whenever possible to add realism. The battle had 73 “fire burns” plus 20 people set ablaze simultaneous for a single shot — both of which had never been done by a single movie or TV production before.

Half her army is stranded at Casterly Rock with no supplies, the other half of her army has the supply train with the loot – specifically the grain according to Tarly (minus most gold) from Highgarden in hand and she sets it on fire. … In a show that’s been telling us for 7 seasons winter is coming and they need to start stockpiling supplies.

Sounds like something the current guy in charge would do.

Is Rickon Stark the Chuck Cunningham of GOT?      Bran with a Dr Manhattan type of vibe too.

I definitely don’t remember Chuck being killed on screen with an arrow through the heart.

In hindsight if Rickon had just jogged backwards across the battlefield he probably could have avoided the arcing arrows from Ramsey as he could have seen them coming right at him and just stepped aside.  Damn rookie.

I mean that he’s never mentioned or talked about again.   Even in flashbacks.    I know there wasn’t much character development with him but the others don’t seem to miss him.

Weird part is that Jon orders him to be buried next to Ned. And then Sansa and Arya are standing right there last week. Couldn’t have squeezed the one line telling her what happened to him.

Davos might as well have said: “Hey Gendry, George’s book requires some redshirt deaths north of the wall. Suit up!”

Speaking of flashbacks, is Abby on Ray Donovan more annoying dead or alive?

That would be a big, terrific FU to the fans who have been wailing about his absence all these years.

Davos joking about him still out there rowing was a nice touch.

I think he’ll live, they have red shirt wildlings and lesser characters like thoros and/or dondarion to off next episode.

I wonder what the reason is that Jon won’t tell Dany about Melisandre bringing him back from the dead.

They’re hitting that point pretty hard for it to not mean anything.

Doesn’t really seem like a sound plan. Head north of the wall (using the Star Trek transporter as we’re almost out of time which means characters can be anywhere at any time these days), capture a dead guy, bring him down to Kings Landing to show the queen who wants everyone dead and magically she will go “Woah! Dead guy? Lets all band together and go after these dead folks..”.

If they used the pacing of this season last year then Aria would have been in Braavos for about 12 minutes of one episode and come out fighting like a ninja.

I read some of the what is supposed to be the leaked script online for the next several episodes. I’d be shocked if what has been leaked comes out to be accurate.

I guess getting them to believe about the knight king and his army is more important than also trying to say “hey I died and came back to life” on top of it in his mind.  Doesn’t want her to think he’s full blown nuts by saying both maybe?

You don’t impress the ladies and wield influence by announcing that the last group you were in charge of rose up and decided to kill you.

He doesn’t know that she had Drogo resurrected (to less than stellar success) and it is a trust factor.  I agree on the total loon bit but that is also something that I don’t think he fully comprehends so avoidance is a good strategy.

She totally sold that she is falling for him with the looks she was giving him unbeknownst to him last night.  She is digging him.

Poor Jorrah–he wants in that so bad but she loves him like a brother.  Perpetual friend zone even if he doesn’t see it.

It’s a terrible plan but my guess is that from a writing standpoint, it gets some characters that are known and detailed into a location where the most important event will happen.

The Night King and his army will prevail and breach the wall and most of the Magnificent Seven will be witnesses that will spread the word throughout the land during the finale and final season.

It will have the effect of informing the populace without the actual “bring the dead guy to cersei” part.

    Second to last!

Besides, she can talk to dragons and can walk through fire. She’s a little kooky herself.

Not just Jon, though. Melisandre also hid out when they got there. There must be some reason why the plot requires Dany to not know about their previous attachment.
