House of Cards finale?     What the hell was that?

Two episodes in to the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and really enjoying it. Rachel Brosnahan is pretty funny. (and has a nice top shelf too)

    Surprisingly heavy sweater.

What did you folks think of Season Two?

For those who like to find old Sopranos characters, the series doesn’t disappoint: Benny Fazio, Mustang Sally and Phil Leotardo’s gooma (not that I had any clue the Weisman’s maid was that person).

I’m hitting that one shortly.  I finished Homecoming, I thought the performances in that were great.  Not sure if they are doing a season 2 but that was probably good enough as it was.  I watched the first 3 episodes of that Escape from Danamorra or whatever directed by Ben Stiller.  It’s depressing as hell, the prisoners banging the Arquette sister, their lives in general.  Prison towns are depressing as fuck.

I’m a big fan of Counterpart on Starz, Season 2 recently kicked off.  JK Simmons never fails.

Watched my first Brockmire on a flight home from Orange County this week. Holy shit is it hilarious.

I guess this was a movie in theatres, not sure, but has anyone caught The Death of Stalin on Showtime?

Hilarious. Buscemi, Michael Palin, Jeffrey Tambor and whoever-the-fat-guy-is that plays Beria are great.

Absolutely love that flick. Watched it repeatedly on flights this fall. Legitimately laugh out loud stuff.

The Vice News Special on the 2008 Financial Crisis is outstanding.

As HBO was binge-broadcasting The Sopranos this past week or so, I watched several episodes.

When you consider the first episodes were filmed in 1998, it’s held up real well. Yeah, I haven’t changed by negative opinion of the subplot of Christopher writing a movie script and Iler’s proven again why he has disappeared from acting, but other than that…

I caught a few of the later episodes over the last week.  I had tried to start from Season 1 a few months back and gave up about 7 episodes in.  Was uninterested and felt that perhaps it didn’t hold up.  The later episodes were much better upon viewing but still I think I’m leaving well enough alone.

I dig Patriot on Amazon, specifically the music.  Season 2 is using Sure Shot from the Beastie Boys thus far as the intro music, first episode featured Flying Burrito Brothers and Dennis Wilson.  The whole dilemma with the dimes in Episode 1 cracked me up

The NYT has a piece today on how to do a short cut rewatch of the Sopranos … with recommendations for if you only want to watch 1, 5, 10 or 20 episodes.

First episode of True Detective season 3 down, absolutely fantastic.  I’m 100 in, love that episode 2 is available right after.  So much better of a start than season 2 that I can’t put it into words.  (because I’m not write good).

Agreed. Hope they don’t go too far off on the spooky stuff (the doll gives me misgivings that they will); the story lines concerning the detective, the detective’s family, the (police) office’s politics and the kids’ family themselves seem interesting enough.

After four episodes nothing that’s disappointed so far. The way they move from 1980 to 1990 to now took the first episode to get used to, but it works. It would be interesting to see it done again in chronological order

Well, I will say that there’s very little uplifting about it.    Every story line seems to be headed for a sad ending in one way, shape or form.    But it’s still good and Ali seems to nail all 3 characters he’s playing.

It’s on Hulu, so was unsure if I would post this on the online media thread.  I’ll post in both because I feel so strongly, but Letterkenny on Hulu is absolutely fucking hilarious.  Sort of like a Canadian hick version of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

True story, my hick neighbor at our place in Vermont turned me on to it, and he and the whole neighborhood could be characters on this show.

The show is just incredible.  Definitely check it out.

Counterpart cancelled after 2 seasons on starz.  :wall:   Really loved that show, hope they find a streaming home for season 3.

That blows I really enjoyed Counterpart and JK Simmons in particular.  Of course they shitcanned Magic City a few years back which was tremendous. On Counterpart there’s one episode left so basically either Indigo succeeds and closes the Crossing or they don’t.

Hoping they are successful with their attempts to shop to a streaming network to see.  Would really suck to be left on that cliffhanger.

Just finished it. I really liked it a lot, as did my husband. I think we each approached it from a different perspective, so you and the mrs. will probably both enjoy. Natasha Lyonne is fantastic as the lead. It’s a quick watch, eight under 30-minute episodes.

Counterpart ended pretty much the only way it could end.  No real need to run any further seasons on a streaming service.  JK Simmons was terrific not an awards guy but I can’t believe he doesn’t get recognized for those roles.
