She’s a silent assassin. I think she jumped/dropped from the tree but I read somewhere about the reminders of her quiet abilities:

    • season 1 she snuck up on cats
    • all her training with syrio and the faceless men (quiet as a shadow)
    • When she was reunited with Jon at the same tree earlier this season and he didn’t hear her coming
    • when she was trapped in the library last night. They didn’t hear her moving around but they did hear her blood drip onto the floor- that’s how quiet she was

I really thought we were going to see a dead Rickon sighting when she was sneaking around and the dead were coming back to life.

Mafee’s speech to Wendy was A+. I could feel the pain on her face that starts as a smirk and then quickly changes.

Agreed, although I did wonder how he just waltzed in to the building.  Maybe he tailgated someone.

I do like the storyline of Wendy turning into a total mess.  The irony is that she’s pissed at Chuck for the public revelation to get what he wanted, yet she has no issues doing what she does and collecting paychecks.

So Chuck is working the angle of bringing Jock down, while Connerty/Jock are working the angle of bringing Chuck down.  As of now it seems like it will just be a stalemate with each having something on the other.

Love any Wags storyline but the one from last week with the fake invite to the secret society just seems to be a throw in.

I’m also pretty sure that in the real world if someone were to barge into any office, even if its and especially a former employee, that they would have gotten their ass kicked for talking to any female in that tone even if what he’s saying is true. And you are correct that with the new security they put in a couple of seasons ago where all employees have wrist bands that Mafee would never get into the building.

I’ve become so anti-Wendy going back to a few seasons ago. Similar to how I felt with Axe’s wife. I know the point of the show is the whole power struggle and alliances and trying to balance the power with life but I’m not sure where Wendy’s character goes from here. The Chuck thing has been done to death and she seems done there. She feels she’s lost her pull at Axe and now feels Axe used and played her as he does everyone. She knows she blew any trust with Taylor and Mafee, perhaps the only people who actually liked her for who she was. We never see any family or friends for her to confide in. It’d be a great and realistic twist to just kill off her character in some Kurt Cobain sort of way. Instead we’ll get yet another idiotic Chuck decision where he finds himself back in legal trouble and having to sell someone else out in order to save his own skin. For someone who is so tactically and legally brilliant he sure makes a ton of careless LEGAL mistakes (like ever discussing anything illegal or shady on a telephone).

I would think Wags would be more upset over the slimy lawyer pulling that stunt on him than being upset at Taylor for just trying to run a business but that all seems to be forgotten as they were all pretty proud of themselves after finding out that that succeeded in whatever they were trying to accomplish (make Taylor realize her dad was a dick? make Taylor choose between her company and her dads dream and then find out her dad was a dick?..just seems to be a whole lot of effort for minimal payoff especially with all of the legal lines they are willing to skirt knowing that they still have to be on the governments radar whether or not Chuck is on their side).

Is Billions worth bingeing?  I saw part of the first episode once and it didn’t hook me.  Got a long flight to India coming up.

I’d say yes. It goes fast and is a lot about power and alliances. There are some cheesy aspects and some totally stupid decisions made by characters but overall very entertaining in my opinion. Looking at the power dynamics back in the first season versus where they are now is always interesting as to who is on which side.

The first 4 or so episodes were wildly overacted setting up the characters.  Axe was a billionaire bro douchebag.  Chuck too as the always yelling US Attorney.  It grew on me eventually although Axe and the t shirts still annoys me.

I am totally fascinated in the “Axe is the so called ‘good guy’ and we all have to root for him” and yet a lot of people are in the “Axe is a total douchebag who I wouldn’t piss on if he were on fire” cart and how that shifts and changes almost weekly. It always brings me back to Sepinwall talking about how Tony Soprano was really the first tv character we all wanted to actually be but were supposed to hate. Axe is just a less psychopathic version of Tony. I find myself amazed that I’m rooting for Chuck and Connerty more and more at this point after everything. I would love to think that this was the plan all along of Koppelman/etc but I’m not sure that’s the case.

I like Connerty as he turned down the chance to work for Axe and he does have some belief in the law, which is why he hates Chuck so much.  I’m fine with Taylor, just a smart and talented person.  Wags is entertaining.  The guy I hate is Dollar Bill.

Rewatched a bit of Thrones, the music is really great.  I like that there are moments of terror in characters that you never saw that with before, like the Hound full blown losing his shit saying we can’t win.  Thought at least twice that Jaime was going to bite it, or Brienne.  One thing I noticed was the one guy who never lost his shit was Theon.  Just stood there in the face of the Army of the Dead plucking them off like he was Robin Hood, went after the Night King.  Guess considering he was a full blown chicken shit throughout the series it was a noble way to go. The sound that ice dragon made was awesome.

Does Cersei still have that giant spear launcher thing?

So are they down to 1 dragon?

    BSBSJMW had it first!

I don’t know what the hell Daenrys and company were thinking going for a walkabout or getting that far ahead of their army such to leave themselves vulnerable like that.  All those guys were washing up on shore yet somehow Missendei ends up a prisoner?  If they were grabbing her why wouldn’t they have simply slaughtered everyone that was coming ashore?  Did they know Missendei was someone of importance to Daenerys?  That Hand guy to Cersei is a Class A creep.  And what the hell is with everyone grabbing safety/shelter from the Army of the Dead then saying yeah we’re just going to back to our lives, good luck with storming the castle?  Guess I assumed that was part of the package, defeat the Night King then on to Kings Landing.  Nice job with the ‘secret’ too, only thing missing was a pinky swear.  Is Jaime going back to Cersei because he loves her/is going to fight for her or is he just self loathing?  Main guess/prediction is that Varys is going to connive getting Daenrys iced or at least an attempt.

Billions was garbage.  The fight stuff was flat out stupid and exceeds the RDA of Rich Eisen.  I’m lost on who owes who favors with Chuck and Jackie Aprile, Sr. but seems like they’d be done doing favors.  And you’re telling me Axe wouldn’t have thought about the need for water if he was all in on fracking?

I’ll miss Veep, non Pete division.  Jonah is the type of character that could easily get old and I still can’t get enough.  Richard’s delivery is the best.

Missandei was there when they had the meeting in the dragon pits. Her showing up on shore was a convenient piece to send Dany fully over the edge.

Just a full on mess of a military strategy.  How many effing times does a giant fleet of ships need to surprise you before you have the Air Force do some recon? Also, Dany knows about the scorpion from the loot train episode. Still no armor on her or the dragons and she flies into the enemy city without anyone contemplating they may still have those things?

The other stuff was pretty good and true to form. Arya and the Hound doing what one would expect. Good back and forth from Tyrion and Varys, Sansa being smart.

Dan Soder/Mafee is 35 so he’s probably 12-15 years removed from being a college lacrosse player and I’m supposed to believe he’s THAT out of shape? And, like you, I really am totally confused in the Chuck/Connerty/Jackie Aprile/everyone else situation. Connerty supposedly hates Chuck because of how he skirted the law but I’m supposed to believe he’s completely okay with how Jock is handling things and the comments about the Native Americans?

Chuck’s reaction to having a half sister was pretty funny. This season had a lot of potential to really change the power dynamics going forward (Wendy/Taylor vs Chuck/Axe) but it doesn’t look like they’re going that way so I’m not really sure what they accomplished this season other than killing Wendy’s power and make Axe look like Henry Rollins.

“Hey Bran, what’s Cersei doing right now? Where’s her army? Where’s her fleet? Any special weapons we should know about?”

I’m still a bit shocked that they dont use Bran (ie Google). “Hey Bran…do you see any problems with this plan?” Or wouldn’t Arya at some point during the military meeting say “Guys, I’ve got this. Let me sneak into Kings Landing and kill Cersei.” After all she just killed the most dangerous enemy on the planet so she has some street cred and it would have made more sense than anything else they’ve come up with. Cersei will never step down. Lots of people will die. Let Arya give it a go. If she fails then you can storm the castle.

The memes that were instantly on Twitter of Ned Stark shaking his head (I was able to keep a secret for 17 plus years…my daughter cant keep one for 5 minutes) were funny. Also how did Bron just waltz into Winterfell carrying a Lannister crossbow and not get noticed by ANYONE? Top notch security. I guess the battle is over. No one assumes anyone from the south is heading north. Was Bron really heading TOWARD the army of the dead (since it takes so long to get from Kings Landing to Winterfell he would have started his journey before the war with the dead).

I think Varys is dead next week. Dany goes Mad Queen and kills him for treason. Jamie kills Euron (after taking his time machine and getting back to Kings Landing just as the war is starting) and somehow Tyrion incurs the wrath of Dany (perhaps because of either Varys or Jamie) and it comes down to Jon killing Dany to save Tyrion and The Realm. For a second I thought it might have been Tyrion so he could be the Queen Slayer but I think it has to be Jon as he’s the only one with enough balls to do it. I think Bran ends up on the throne. Mountain and The Hound kill each other. Perhaps Arya plays a role here. Not sure who kills Cersei. The prophecy says Arya but the internet/book fans will lose their mind as they were already pretty pissed that Arya got to kill the Night King instead of Jon. Might as well let Bron have Highgarden and sit on the counsel of Bran. Jon heads back North and retires with Ghost while rebuilding the wall for no obvious reason since the threat is gone. Sadly we never find out why the Night King made those cool patterns with the dead body/animal parts.

When Tyrion is talking to Cersei about her unborn child, wouldn’t Euron be asking “Uh, how does HE know this since you just told me 5 minutes ago?”

Was Jamie really going to sit this battle out and hang back with the women? The guy has been a soldier his entire life and I guess its just time to cash in all that saved up vacation time.

What Blinded said. You have the worlds best weapon ever invented. He can see everything everywhere. And yet it seems only Tyrion really took any time to talk to the kid. Was Bran in the room while they were all discussing their strategy about burning/not burning Kings Landing? I think he was but not 100% sure. No one turning to him and saying “We good?” is just a travesty.

Axe as Henry Rollins is a good one.  Now I’m streaming The End of Silence.   Even if they hadn’t initially thought about the water haven’t they been following everything Taylor is doing to put it together?  I like the move of getting Wendy’s license revoked.

Guessing Sack might have some change of heart but she already burned Chuck once such that he wouldn’t trust her.

And I’m fully expecting the new fellow billionaire girlfriend to come in off the top rope.

Everyone was piss drunk so I could buy Bron strolling in, heck Jaime walked right in no problem pre battle so I’m guessing there is no head of security position at Winterfell.

That scene with Dany and Jon did reveal a lot, she’s going to be a baby about becoming queen and then once she is queen she’d have to kill Jon and the rest of them.

I’m not sure about outfitting dragons in armor, might be issues with flying let alone getting them to put the stuff on.

On Jaime I would imagine they knew he was mainly there to fight the Army of the Dead, they weren’t going to expect him to full heel turn on Cersei.  Which seems to have proven out.

The Dany/Jon scene where he’s semi drunk is where it turned for me as well. She will never let Jon stay alive and begging him not to tell anyone about his parents and then doing that mini heel turn on him. Tyrion has to play that card to Jon as he’s too dumb to figure it out himself I think. “Hey, do you really think she’s going to let you just keep hanging around when you’re far more loved and popular than she will ever be?” as she’s burning all the innocents around her sounds like the perfect line to get Jon to finally do the right thing and kill her.

Valid point on Bron and Jaime on the Winterfell head of security. Jaime had no problem getting right into the middle of all of it without anyone batting an eye that the most famous soldier in the world was walking among them.

And Jon, pet your damn dire wolf once in a while. Poor Ghost post battle just looking for someone, anyone, to give him a good rub. And then you send your lifelong pet in the opposite direction?

That’s pretty awful. Like ok if you’re going to be shitty storytellers and corrupt a franchise to a large degree, but how does that get past everyone? Not to go all Kevin Mannix here but it’s a complete insult to the viewers.
