Really?  3 more?  Huh, would have thought they would just end it on a clean 10 episodes.  I like that Showtime loads it up for streaming at midnight eastern, lately I’ve been watching it Saturday night.

The Shield finale will always be the benchmark for me.   Vic standing there sentenced to a life behind a desk, wearing a shirt and tie.  Everything gone, Ronnie taking the fall.  Won’t ever see his kids again.  If he quits or does anything violating the terms of his employment he goes to jail for life.  Completely rat fucked.

I was all in on the Army of the Dead and the ice dragon. Once that ended I mostly didn’t care. Still floors me that all these people that sat out the Battle of Winterfell had any kind of say in who became king/queen.

A show with this many characters and story arcs always has a hard time with the finale. Hell some people still are furious they never covered what happened with the Russian in the woods on the Sopranos. Jon should have just taken it, would have spared a shit ton of lives too. I like how they were sitting there talking about the city and sewers and brothels. Um, you have piles and piles of dead bodies. Might need to get that handled. Maybe hold a meet and greet with those that survived. Also, what army do they have? Sansa took the North troops back. The Unsullied left. Is it just the 6 kingdoms or whatever and the troops will respond when called? Not a great defensive gameplan if so.

The sloppiness with starbucks/water bottles is really inexcusable, and there are so many logic holes this season it’s pretty ridiculous.  But the sports radio takez have now oozed into every part of pop culture to the point in addition to people actively working to make me hate my sports teams there are people actively working to make me hate the shows I like.  I can enjoy the dragon show even if it doesn’t follow the books to the t (I read them) and even if they make mistakes along the way.  Just like the Pats SB with an 11-5 team was plenty of fun and this Bs postseason has been awesome even though they didn’t have to face the “iron” along the way.

Also thanks for the Billions recommendation I’m finishing up season 1 and enjoying it.  Although I have to say I think Damian Lewis lays it on a little thick.

I’m with you there. Loved him in BAND OF BROTHERS.  Was good in HOMELAND. Don’t love his work on Billions.

Season one is full of it from both Lewis and Giamatti but it mellows out a bit, or at least you accept that’s probably how a billionaire behaves.

On a separate note Billions has a great intro, one of the best.  Short, simple great pic of Manhattan in the morning with eerie music and right to the action.  Thrones and Sopranos were endless and mind numbing

Chernobyl is worth watching if for no other reason than driving home the point why the Soviet government collapsed under its own weight. The old guy addressing the meeting in Episode 1 and the KGB guy in Episode 3 are particularly creepy.

It’s been great.  As I noted in a different thread it also ironically reminds me of working in corporate America.

Axe just gave annoying jersey girl $5 billion? Ya, that’s not going to blow up in his face. This HAS to be a setup from Taylor which would be brilliant if they were working together.

I think the finale is going to focus on Axe and Chuck making bad decisions based on their obsessions with Taylor and Jock.

I think by the way Sacker was looking at the American flag pin and then them showing behind her back when she’s “ratting” Chuck out to Jock is a bug and they’re setting up Jock/Connerty and Sacker is going to join Chuck. I loved Chuck’s dad’s arrogance in front of Jock. “It smells like dick? I’d guess dick.”

In general I’m not really sure why Chuck would trust Sacker in a scheme to topple Jock/Connerty, she already fucked Chuck over.  Although she did tell him beforehand that she is an upwardly mobile political animal so if there is something to be gained I suppose it makes sense.  She’s pretty much Littlefinger.

So Axe didn’t give Jersey Girl the $5 bil, right?  She negotiated with Taylor to get the appliance supply chain so she didn’t have to buy that other company.  One thing that bothers me with Jersey Girl is unless I’ve missed it she’s a billionaire too.  Why are they always jetting around or doing whatever on Axe’s dime, where are all her toys and penthouses and whatnot?

I watched the entire episode again later on and I believe that the entire thing is a setup by Chuck. There is just no way either he or his dad are dumb enough to leave a paper trail for someone else to find and this has to be an elaborate ruse to take down Jock and Connerty where they knew they were being watched/listened to and Sacker is going to be in on it with Chuck. That’s why Chuck’s dad was so arrogant. Its going to be like the Golden Frog episode where later on you get to see everything that happened that we couldn’t see as it was going on.

I also think Taylor is going to get back stabbed by their new girlfriend. The excuse for not leaving her money in the fund was just too cheesy.

Axe didn’t give her the $5 billion however he did liquidate $2.5 billion worth of positions already which is beyond stupid as hell and something no real hedge fund guy would/could do without getting a ton of redemption’s from investors as they will all think he had lost his mind. Him also sabotaging a new relationship with his billionaire girlfriend, coming on the heels of his recent divorce, doesn’t seem like a real prudent strategy.

For someone worth many billions his new girlfriend sure doesn’t seem to have many advisors or assistants around her perhaps advising her to stay away from this guy who has brought nothing but trouble to her business.

Axe’s fixer went in the apartment after Connarty & brother got in the safe, saw that something was out of place; but there never was a follow-up scene or phone call. That’s got to figure into next week’s episode.

And you know the cuff links will come in to play placing the US Attorney at the scene of a crime or in receipt of stolen goods.

Yeah it’s likely all a play and will be like when Chuck was crying then laughing after pulling the Ice Juice scam.

That was a hell of a final episode of Chernobyl.  Well done series.  I might watch it again.

Billions final episode was good. Half expected, half not. 100 percent unrealistic.

The Connerty/Jock stuff was too perfect – specifically the ‘then Connerty will contact his long lost brother who happens to be a safecracker who will willingly enlist for a job where he gets no payoff.  We’ll set up a camera and we’ve got him!’  However I was fine with the Jersey Girl Screwjob and the eventual Chuck I need to bury Axe it’s just my nature aspect.

Finally got around to the Deadwood movie.  Not sure what the point really was but no way Hearst gets up from that beating and has any kind of smart ass comment.  He’s a vegetable after all of those kicks to the head, and barely breathing with all the kicks to the ribs.

So let’s see- next season is supposed to be Axe vs Chuck again; with Taylor doing whatever she can to see that they take each other out?

And what will be the ultimate fate of Connerty and Mr. Krabs?

I always think of Jock as Kurgan from Highlander.

Jock is likely riding off into the sunset.  Clancy Brown’s tweets seem to indicate his character is written in for next year.  On Connerty my guess is he’s stewing in prison making those faces.

Watched the first episode of City on a Hill.  Has a Wahlberg brother, a that guy who’s in every Boston movie, and closed with More Than A Feeling.  Set in the early ‘90s so had a Whitey keeps the drugs out of Southie reference.  I’m all in.

I seem to recall there being a pretty widely accepted rumor that when Chuck Stuart was pulled from the water after jumping of the Tobin Bridge “committing suicide”, they found him with his severed dick in his mouth.  Further rumored was that the men in his late wife’s family may have helped him off the bridge, so to speak.

The possibility that this may have been the case brings a smile to my face.

Finally jumped into Netflix this summer as I spend a lot of time at home just with the dogs.

GLOW was a stupid fun show. I didn’t want to like Maron (can’t stand his standup) but he is pretty good.

Midway through season 3 of Breaking Bad. I swear I’m not just saying this to be a turd but I don’t quite get all the fawning. Maybe something gets lost when binging as opposed to waiting weekly for new ones and dissecting.
