Finally jumped into Netflix this summer as I spend a lot of time at home just with the dogs.

GLOW was a stupid fun show. I didn’t want to like Maron (can’t stand his standup) but he is pretty good.

Midway through season 3 of Breaking Bad. I swear I’m not just saying this to be a turd but I don’t quite get all the fawning. Maybe something gets lost when binging as opposed to waiting weekly for new ones and dissecting.

With you on BB.  I’ve tried to get into it 3 times and can’t get there.

I find shows like Breaking Bad too depressing anyhow if that makes any sense, namely the crystal meth.  Jesse annoyed the fuck out of me by Season 3 and I found Skyler’s sister utterly pointless to the show.  I stopped watching like a season or so before it concluded.  I gave up on Better Call Saul too.

Speaking of depressing for some reason I’ve been watching HBO’s Euphoria.  Holy depressing.

I’ve enjoyed City on a Hill and Loudest Voice on Showtime.  Jett on Cinemax is pretty solid, the last episode was fucking bonkers.

I’m 3 episodes in on Years and Years and I like it.  Although sometimes I struggle to understand what some of the characters are saying with their rapid-fire english accents.  Worth a try if you’re looking for a show imo

I’m enjoying it too. Turn closed captioning on, that’s the only way I get through a lot of the British shows.

I used CC for The Wire.  Couldn’t understand much when Stringer was speaking.

Just found out Xfinity/Comcast dropped Cinemax from all of their packages, had some dispute with HBO.  So they replaced it with some On Demand bullshit called Hitz, which is basically a bunch of shitty old movies you can access on demand v. it being an actual channel.  If you want Cinemax you have to pay an a la carte fee.  I’m so fucking sick of cable.  I want to drop it and get something like youtube tv with whatever a la carte but guaranteed my wife won’t want to because she’s a neanderthal when it comes to change.  I don’t use like 90% of those stations anyhow, I pretty much only use the premium stations.

This era of TV consumption is so weird. So many outlets of pretty good to great shows and movies by all accounts, but all I can muster the commitment to watch is watching bad bakers butcher making fancy cupcakes on Nailed It!

YouTube TV is the best. The only downside is no NFL Network which I didn’t care about last season but now that NFL 100 special with BB is something I want to watch.

I remembered that Amazon Prime streams the Thursday night games so like you said who cares about NFLN.

Any other downsides to it?  I see it’s 50 bucks a month, can run it on 3 devices/tvs and has an unlimited DVR.  Definitely more sports focused than Hulu which is fine.  No NHL Network which mostly means no Saturday night game which I can live with.  No local games – Rockies/Nuggets/Avalanche – as the local sports stations aren’t on it either.  Oh well.

Just finished up Doom Patrol and Dark season 2, highly recommend both.  Also enjoying The Boys after 2 episodes.

One thing I haven’t figured out regarding City on a Hill: Who the hell does Jackie Rohr report to? Whoever it is has to be the worst supervisor in the history of supervisors.

Chiming in with the other, but we love Youtube TV. We have Comcast at the main house (the bundling with their internet is cheaper than just internet would be), but we don’t have cable at the cabin in VT. So, Youtube TV is the service we have. The DVR feature is really good, as is the ability to stream NESN. And, for 30mbs dsl (not bad for the middle of the woods in VT) and Youtube TV we pay a total of $100 a month.

has he ever been in an office that wasn’t either BPD or the Suffolk County DA?

Jackie’s story is more about protecting his snitches and gathering favors.  His whole intro into the story was him trying to protect a snitch.  He’s working with the prosecutor to gather favors is my thinking.  And to look the other way if he is doing illegal stuff.

Been watching The Boys on Amazon.  Based on a comic by the guy who wrote Preacher.  basically a superhero show where the superheroes are part of their own myth making (imagine the MCU in our lives, but Iron Man is real) they are also narcissistic sociopaths, and being targeted by a rogue group w/a  grudge.  Thoroughly enjoyable fluff

I’m 3 or 4 episodes in on The Boys.  It’s great.  The Homelander is slaying me.

I haven’t read The Boys comics series, but I’m to understand that it is several degrees more over the top than the TV show in terms of bad behavior, raunchiness, and violence.

I haven’t seen the series….but the comic opens with a forced blowjob scene.  And thats the baseline.

Same with the tv series.  The Deep forces Starlight/Starfire to chug cock.

Karl Urban is great glad he’s keeping his Brit accent hate when they force people to Americanize unless it makes sense.

Succession is slinging fire this season. You go from laughing your ass off to cringing to “holy shit” in the course of minutes. Kens reaction when Logan decked Roman,  I wonder if he (coke fueled) takes a swing at the old man

Tom needs to go find that broad that Shiv cock blocked him on, I actually feel bad for the guy.  I feel like on the one hand Ken has resided himself to his fate with regard to his place in the family, the other part of me is expecting him to take a kill shot at Shiv.  That scene a couple of weeks ago or so where he was hugging/crying on her shoulder had me thinking this is all a ruse.  Although you know the closing events from last year are going to come back.
