A few days on the couch with the frozen peas allowed me to play some catch up.  about 1/2 way through season two of the Deuce, decent enough but part of me is going through it knowing there is only one more after that.  What we do in the shadows, on the other hand, is killing  it.  Haven’t seen the movie yet, but will do so as soon as I’m done with the season. For some reason that the other vampires call him by the full “Colin Robinson” despite having been in the same house w/him for god knows how long is slaying me

I thought the car ride with logan and Roman would be the toughest thing to watch all episode, then, as Lebron said… jesus that was brutal     what a fucking show

Anybody have an opinion of Fleabag? Found and watched the first two episodes, seems decent enough but I can’t say right now I’d have expected it to win any awards.

I really liked it I found her to be very funny.  And the scumbag brother in law guy gets me in everything he’s in.

When Season One was released I had zero interest but admittedly I’ll probably hit it up at some point.  I still have to watch the most recent Sneaky Pete season.  Just finished The Boys great finale.

Logan saying to Rhea ‘you want to stay’ is exactly how I picture billionaires starting their version of courtships.  And throwing $20 mil and a holiday at the ex for her cooperation in a takeover is how I expect the post divorce to go.

I love how Logan doesn’t really belittle his kids as an entire group as much as he breaks them into pieces individually.

re: succession- interesting theory that Logan knows that the only acceptable head on a pike for the board is his, and by goading Ken into throwing him under the bus, he sets Ken up to be the next CEO and at least a Roy (and arguably the one most suitable to be Logan’s puppet) stays as head of the company

That ending was awesome.  I think that the ‘you’re not a killer’ was the final test but even earlier when he basically said stop surrounding yourself with substance abusers and him sending the broad packing was part of it as well.  Kendall was obviously indebted to Logan for saving him following last season and acted as the good servant but Logan wanted to see if he could push him to a point of back to defying him.  He was good in that meeting with whatshisface too, the guy he originally teamed up with to overthrow Logan.  Logan probably now sees Roman as the COO type and then now with Shiv begging for her husband to be spared he sees her as weak.  Cousin Greg is the perfect Kendall sidekick, that shit in the beginning with the yacht was hysterical.  They make a good team.

I ended up liking Righteous Gemstones much more than I thought I would.  Danny McBride is hit or miss for me, loved Eastbound and Down but couldn’t get in to Vice Principals.  Walt Goggins can play anything.

There’s a Martin Scorsese movie coming out by way of Netflix called The Irishman.

Three things I found interesting: (1) Joe Pesci’s in it and he’s been in hardly anything since the turn of the century (2) this is the first Scorsese movie Al Pacino’s been in. (3) Scorsese dug up the woman who played Lois Bird, the babysitter in Goodfellas, who’s been around but god knows if I’d recognize her.

    Long movie, 3.5 hours.

So we know Mickey Donovan got out of the bus before it blew up, don’t we?

What would Ray Donovan be without Jon Voigt?

And, they already played the alive-only-in-flashbacks card with Paula Malcolmson.

I found the episode the week prior to be a bit difficult to follow and as someone who isn’t familiar with either the comic or the film I’ve had to do some background research on some of this stuff.  The casual mentioning or throwing around of the name Dr. Manahattan and living on Mars is like what the fuck he’s kind of a major character in this isn’t he?  Also I looked up the squid stuff following the first episode when it just randomly rained squid.    But I have also been enjoying it and I don’t mind doing a little homework if I enjoy the show.

Silicon Valley really limping to the finish line, I somewhat feel like bailing on it.  I didn’t finish the final season of the Affair, thought the first couple of episodes of the final season sucked.  I see Jared is popping up in a new HBO show in January with Hugh Laurie.

I watched the first episode of The Dublin Murders (I think it’s called that) on Starz.  Enjoyed it.  Reminds me of something you’d see on Cinemax v. Starz but I guess there is some cable war with Cinemax and Comcast/Xfinity dropped them from all of their packages.  You can get it but you have to pay some premium for it.  Eff that.

And thankfully they brought back Russ to save the day.

As this went to Netflix real fast, not sure where this goes (TV or movies), but whaddya think of The Irishman?

IMO, a different, but very powerful Scorsese film.

Incredible cast: Dominick Lombardozzi (unrecognizable, mostly), Stevie VanZandt, Ray Romano, Vondas from The Wire, even dug up babysitter Lois Bird to play Hoffa’s wife.
