Wow, great find on Detective Box.

Who asked for a Roseanne reboot?

    Anyone still watching The Americans?

They’re killing me with this Moscow food hoarding plot. Who the fuck cares? I’d rather them talk about the son’s math tests.

I don’t disagree on the plot, although I do like the Oleg character.  Everything seems to be about disillusionment and I guess they figure this is how it happens with Oleg?  I dunno.

Thought the DeNiro movie about Madoff was great. He’s been mailing it in for years in some bad movies but he still has a fastball.

The Leftovers continues to be just fantastic, but man the new Twin Peaks was fucking insane.  Watched the first 3 episodes and I have less than a clue about what is going on or what I even watched.  Best episode of American Gods so far as well, if you like Bryan Fuller it was him at his best.

Burned through The Keepers this weekend. A little slow at times and the Baltimore accents are annoying as fuck but I liked it quite a bit.

Hands down the best casting move was Dollar Bill/Pastor Tim as one of the FBI agents arresting Madoff.  Irony!

He was good in the 2 movies with Cooper/Lawrence – the quick bit in American Hustle was great.

if you have netflix, and can deal with subtitles, then it’s worth trying fauda

I can deal with subtitles if they consider how they look on screen. Nothing more annoying than white subtitles against a white object on the screen. Or station logos that cover subtitles up.

I’d take significant issue with the rates being charged for an ad during Murder She Wrote on local daytime TV.

sounds like the last 2 seasons will move by really fast because of how expensive the war is going to be.

Was a few weeks behind on The Americans and got caught up. That episode two weeks ago where they track down the old woman who was a Nazi collaborator in Newton was among the best episodes in the series imo. That final scene was crazy and amazing.

This one crossed over into “too weird” territory. Two weeks left and they start ripping off The Test Dream again?

I assume she’s lying and she never went. The Laurie scene threw me off.

And you can also assume she’s telling the truth and still be satisfied at the outcome. Good decision to not answer the question, but give two possibilities that the audience can pick from and feel like they’ve answered it in their own minds. Smart.

If she’s lying, it reminds me of the same idea that was in Life of Pi. Even if it’s false, choose to believe the better story, if it works as a coping mechanism.

Carrie Coon getting a lot of accolades for her performance, I thought Justin Theroux was outstanding.  The heart attack/pacemaker story really set the tone for how Kevin seemed more resigned or at peace.  And the scene with Eccleston and Coon was well done.

He’s the best.  The “shittin’ clits, son/Shut your spewing mouth!” scene in the school last year might have been the hardest I’ve ever laughed

Watched a bunch of episodes of the Man in the High Castle on a flight out to Vegas.

American Gods went out with an extremely strong and very different from the book episode.  Really wonder how many seasons this thing can go with just how changed up it is.  Could be 5 or 6 at this pace.

Also Twin Peaks with its most straight forward and best episode yet as well.  Shame there’s a week off after the next one.  Fargo is about to end too, GoT cant’ get here soon enough.

I’ve seen both seasons.  I thought season 1 took a little while to get going, but season 2 was a home run.  Really liked it.

Great acting by Michael McKean throughout that episode (and the series in totality). He really nailed that dementia ridden insufferable prick to a T. I loved the scene where he exited HHM.

I wonder if that is it for HHM in the series (assuming it gets renewed); I don’t see where they would be relevant unless Kim ends up going back there. I had in the back of my mind that they were going to tie Grey Matter with HHM down the road but now I don’t see that happening unless they really love Patrick Fabian.

I’d bet HHM isn’t in every episode, but pops up again. Howard is such a good foil for either Kim or Jimmy not to use again.

A scene where Jimmy and Howard blame each other for Chuck’s death practically writes itself.

Watched the first episode of the Defiant Ones.  The Dr. Dre stuff has been done to death* but I didn’t know much about Iovine.  I was terrified Simmons was going to get some kind of producer credit but ran through the opening/closing and didn’t see his name, so that was a huge plus.  If it runs on consecutive nights I’ll have another excuse to skip the Mike and the Mad Dog garbage.

*That Facebook post about the Beats deal with Tyrese Gibson was bizarre.  Not like they grew up together but they appear to be close enough friends.

Agreed, some of the footage is pretty neat.  Petty sounds like Lebowski in the commentary.  Dre talking about his moment leaving NWA and the assault on that girl was interesting – had read about it but to see him talk about it was different.  The fade out to the credits last night with Little Ghetto Boy was the tops.

In my book nailing Stevie Nicks at the height of her fame while having a horrible unibrow is far more impressive than making a billion dollars on headphones.
