And since the dead guys cant swim or deal with water how did they get the chains wrapped around the dragon?

The Night King also happens to have a bunch of huge chains?

Internet says he got them at Hardhome Depot.

Yeah, they’re using his ship aren’t they?

And Sansa hasn’t heard from Jon in weeks? They can’t send a raven telling of his plans or in response to the one about Bran and Arya?

Samwell Tarly. sitting on the most explosive news (unbeknownst to him) in all of Westeros, is apparently stuck in a time vortex while everyone else is flitting around the globe at will.

He will discover this 5 minutes after the dick down Jon will perpetrate on his aunt.

Why not start throwing the deadly accurate ice javelins at the dudes stuck on a rock? 😆

If the Night King is a greenseer like Bran, he could’ve known Dany would show up with the dragons to rescue them, he gets a white walker dragon if he leaves Jon and the others on the rock for awhile. Not like they’re going anywhere.

Favorite moment – the Hound impales the wight on one of Drogon’s spikes to keep him on

Shitton of them sank when the dragons broke the ice open, not all of them were burned. They sink like rocks but presumably the Night King can still control them, they’re stuck down there but could attach the chains

Where they got the chains from I have no idea. Anchor chains I guess, maybe from some of Stannis’ ships at Hardhome. The wildlings only have scavenged metal, when they attacked the wall with the mammoths and giants they were using ropes to try to pull down the gate, if they had giant chains they would’ve used them there. Presumably they didn’t have a bunch of chains at Hardhome.

Or the chains aren’t metal, they’re magic ice like the white walker’s spears, but they weren’t blue, and looked like metal

I was thinking the same thing with the Night King being a greenseer.  He was perfectly prepared, even had the one walker handing him spears.  Plus being able to see Bran, although that can be a function of Bran dancing a little to close to what he’s observing.  He was almost interacting with Ned at the Tower of Joy.

Defenders was solid but not great.  slow start, good middle, weak end.

Danny Rand: worst character in the Marvel television universe.  Defenders was just “meh”.  It didn’t suck but it also wasn’t all that good.  Matt Murdock was good.  Jessica Jones was good.  Luke Cage had his moments.  Rand?  Unbelievably poor character with absolutely no growth or redeemable qualities.

The Punisher comes out in November so hopefully that produces a comeback.

Just watched GOT again. Probably doesn’t help a ton but it looked like 2 days went by before Dany got there with the dragons. Was day at first when the wights start falling through the ice. Then night when Jorah says they’ll all freeze, then day again when Hound wakes up then night by the time the fight is happening.

    Sam: Hey Bran.

    Bran: Hi.

    Sam: What’s new?

Bran: I have to tell my brother this groundbreaking secret that will alter our entire world.

    Sam: Funny you mention that…

    That wasn’t very good.

I’m still not sure why Littlefinger brought the Knights of the Vale on behalf of the Starks in the first place. That seems like the piece that doesn’t fit.

I hated the “walking up the path to the dragon arena, old characters reconnect” scene – that set new standards for hacky.

You mean to defeat Bolton last season? He wasn’t going to gain any more power with Bolton in charge of the north. So he tries to come in and save the day and win over Sansa, or at the very least position himself as someone who “could” take over the north under the right circumstances.

I think he wanted to marry Sansa, knock of Arya and Jon and then be king of the north. Several times he has said he wanted to sit on the Iron Throne. Plus now Arya can use Littlefingers face to get close to Cersei.

I enjoyed the ending though I still think the plan to get the dead guy was beyond stupid especially considering you lost a dragon in the process and gained maybe one person (Jaime). And of course losing the dragon results in the wall coming down.

Bran and Sam would make an awesome Law & Order or NCIS team. “NCIS Winterfell.”

My gripe would be the Theon stuff.  Who fucking cares about him or the Iron Born anymore.  I wish they’d just kill him off and have the Iron Born sail back to their islands.

I also didn’t get the sense that Sam was listening to Gilly at all when she was going on about Rhaegar’s annulment and subsequent marriage to Lyanna.

For all of the investment and the resulting set work the initial introduction of the wight dragon seemed like it was out of a Godzilla set.  Maybe it was the blue flame but it looked low budget.

The Cersei double crossing was not unexpected but still really stupid. Everyone who does up north will join the already huge army that will come for her next.

But what it’s doing as a plot service is bringing another 20k soldiers over to join the fight. I think Tyrion knows she is doing this.

Nobody could help the hound carry the box?

If Tormund and Beric aren’t dead that’s just absurd.

    Where’s all the dragon glass?

Theon story will allow an interception of the Golden company in order to reroute them to help the north?

Could be.  But they’re paid for mercenaries so not sure if they’d go with someone who didn’t pay them, especially if they outnumber Theon’s group.  Even combined with Euron’s I’m guessing they’d still be outnumbered.

I liked GoT, solid spectacle.  Anyone else watching Twin Peaks?  Last nights episode might be my favorite episode of any tv show ever, incredible payoffs.

Wait, maybe the Golden army hasn’t been paid yet.  Not in the era of wire transfers so Euron is likely sailing to them full of gold to pay them.  If Theon takes over…

On the dragon glass I’m guessing it’s onboard with Jon.  Maybe he gave a bit to Tormund before sending him up to Eastwatch.  Would have been the least he could do.  I don’t have a map in front of me but seems like Dragonstone would have been a good place for them to hole up and keep access to any remaining dragon glass, although fire works for the wights, just need the dragon glass for the walkers.

So are we guessing Tyrion sold out the Targaryians somehow?  It skips from Tyrion and Cersei meeting to her coming out and saying I’ll join the fight.  Then he has that look of distress on the boat like he’s feeling guilty for fucking someone over.

I thought so at first but now I’m thinking the look was about the idea that these 2 are going to be a formal alliance (maybe even a wedding) and so where does that leave him?

I think it was more about how much more complicated it could make things for the time being.  Less rational thought involved when you’re boning each other.

I guess they cut this so we could have more knees to Theon’s cockspot?

Well, Isaac Hampstead-Wright, who plays Bran, revealed to Variety that there was a scene that was filmed and then cut between Bran and Sansa that would have cleared up a few of these plot holes.

“We actually did a scene that clearly got cut, a short scene with Sansa where she knocks on Bran’s door and says, ‘I need your help,’ or something along those lines. So basically, as far as I know, the story was that it suddenly occurred to Sansa that she had a huge CCTV department at her discretion and it might be a good idea to check with him first before she guts her own sister. So she goes to Bran, and Bran tells her everything she needs to know, and she’s like, ‘Oh, sh*t.’”

Thought it was odd when Bronn asked Podrick to go and have a drink just before they were to show the wight. Was just reading that Bronn and Cersei (the people who play them) dated in real life and it ended so badly that they both have it in their contracts that they never have to appear in the same scene together. Thus the writers sort of threw them a bone and had Bronn bail with Podrick before the unveiling.
