I love these radio/writing hot takerz – Doyel was another one – talking about depression or suicidal thoughts.  Look at your career.  You dress like a slob and you spend your day thinking your opinion matters as you banter about made up ‘topics’ and whatever else.  Your ‘office’ is some shithole littered with coffee cups, soda bottles, whatever other garbage, and reeks of old soda, coffee, bad breath and BO.  You do voiceovers for handjobs/secondary income because your ‘salary’ doesn’t cover an average nut.  And you do all of this so you can have fans of your show that are, for a lack of a better way of putting it, complete fucking losers.  Of course you have suicidal thoughts.  Who wouldn’t?

TEC chimes in with more feelings BS. “This feels like more of a Band-Aid than a fix for Brady, who’s been hoping for an extension to the deal that expires after the 2019 season. It assuages irritation that nothing was done to bring him closer in line with the lesser quarterbacks making twice as much, but to do so he has to, in essence, sing for his supper.”

So does this mean Ernie Adams is Luca holding a gun to Tom’s head until he signs?

TEC found out quickly if you want to be on the air full time positive opinions are not welcome in this town. Being a guest a few times a week the positive person can survive. It don’t fly full time.

Sad to say. Pitino was right back in 1992 or whenever it was and it wasn’t half as bad as it is now.

The team was noodling a way to extend or even franchise Garopollo last season. They could have figured out how to give Brady more than 5M in incentives if they wanted to.

Just figure it out.  Not like there’s an ash heap of business history chock full of ‘just figure it out’ companies.

So basically Kraft ordered Bill to trade Jimmy in order to protect Brady … then ordered Bill to cheap out on Brady’s contract?

Sitting in crosstown traffic forever and ended up listening to Screamin’ A Smith for as long as I could take it. No idea how that guy has any sort of following. He’s a million times worse than Romie and all he does it yell. I guess if you’re loud it makes what you’re saying more true. Caller called in and said that he thinks the Pats have fallen behind the Jags now because of all of the players they’ve lost. Screamin’ A’s reply? “No way. Not with Brady, Gronk and Amendola back there. You can never count those guys out. Brady, Gronk, of couse Bill and Amendola….Love the Jags defense so I guess we’ll see. We will see!!!” Nary a mention from anyone that one of those key players left town long ago and its not like it wasn’t heavily reported everywhere on the planet including his flagship ESPN. Even moreso after the suspension of Edelman. But why have facts when you can just yell for 2 hours and call it a show. Complete crap.

Almost as bad was Mike Golic not knowing that Doc Ellis pitched a no hitter while on LSD. I’m pretty sure every baseball fan has heard that story. Guy making $3 million (or whatever) a year for ESPN? Never heard it and didn’t believe it until he googled it. Then still didn’t believe it.

So Kraft swoops in and cobbles together a fat contract that keeps Brady here well past 2019 … and if neither Belichick nor McDaniels are on board with that? What then?

If so, isn’t the answer the same as it was in late October/early November, namely I don’t care what you think if you don’t like it leave?

I thought that was a strange response to my question. The media won’t be happy unless Brady is paid as the top QB but he signed to be mid level and it’s a huge leap to be the top guy.

Even when Brock gets a hit (off of the glove of the 2b) he does something stupid like get picked off. My least favorite Sox player since Lansing, Offerman, O’Leary. Maybe we can trade him for Bryce Harper.

Yahtzee, early to late 70’s pitcher – believe he was on 71 pirates (alongside Norwood’s own Dick Hebner) World Series winner – pitched a no hitter and claimed he was on LSD when he did it – via the wikapedia’s.

Ironically, the bearded depressed zookeeper was prattling on today about box set of Topps cards he got in the mail yesterday.

BDZ posted Doc’s card on his Instagram feed today with a caption about how Dock once pitched a game while drunk.

Buck’s winning pct. is sitting at .519.

Sadly, I don’t think he’ll get down to Jeff Fisher level .512.

The locals have started ripping on Fisher much to my liking. Fisher STILL wants credit for the Rams current success but no one is giving it him and most are starting to realize he’s just a fraud. Once again BSMW about 10 years ahead of the curve. Then again a .409 winning pct with the Rams will tend to do that once the new guy takes the team to the playoffs. Five years and never finished above 3rd in the division. Of course some team will eventually give him another shot because he’s a “name”. Similar to Gruden (who is already losing his team according to media reports). $100 million well spent (that he said he will happily give back if he doesn’t have success early on).

    • In 1974, feeling that his teammates had lost their aggressiveness and were too easily intimidated, Ellis decided to put on a show against the Cincinnati Reds (who had come from behind to defeat the Pirates for the 1972 National League pennant on a run-scoring wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning of the final playoff game). In a May 1 start against the Reds — having announced before the game that “We gonna get down. We gonna do the do. I’m going to hit these motherfuckers.” — Ellis opened the contest by drilling leadoff hitter Pete Rose in the ribs; hitting the next batter, Joe Morgan, in the side; and then plunking Dan Driessen in the back to load the bases. Although clean-up hitter Tony Perez managed to dodge Ellis’ pitches long enough to draw a walk before being hit, Dock aimed his next two offerings at Cincinnati catcher Johnny Bench’s head, whereupon he was unceremoniously yanked from the game by Pittsburgh manager Danny Murtaugh.

I bet the fellas in the press box in the early ‘70’s loved Dock.

    This is glorious! 😆

Not a big karma guy or anything, but it doesn’t seem a huge stretch to suggest that always dragging up negative feelings about everything as a job could have negative ramifications on life as a whole.

I just wonder if Callahan will give him the whiny baby voice about it.

    First random thought:

awesome that Betts hit for the cycle last night and it was exciting he finished with a homer.  I have absolutely no problem with him celebrating off the crack of the bat.   I have to believe, though, that if Manny celebrated a cycle like that as his team lost the game, there would be a record set for media panties in a bunch.  Buckley might have his own panties pulled up to his neck.

    Second random thought:

yeah, yeah, don’t want Minahane to kill himself, whatever.

Cynically, though, putting that out there on the Twitter like he did sure does make him bulletproof for a while, doesn’t it?  We will  get a chorus of how brave he is, how you can’t judge him and how his general douchy behavior is due to his struggle with depression.  A modern day hero.

Looks like he had 2 appearances against them in ’73.

And naturally, it all comes back to the Red Sox.

I’m seeing quite a few responses on twitter and PFT along the lines of “Why would anyone do this in a preseason game? It’s an exhibition, a glorified practice. No one is taking the risk of doing anything illegal in a preseason game.”

One of the tent poles of O’Leary’s book is that the Patriots played Tampa Bay in the preseason, then again in the season opener and there were comments from the Patriots side that they knew a lot of the plays that Tampa ran in the regular season game. The spygate truthers took this as evidence that the Patriots figured out what Tampa was doing in the preseason game and used that information in the regular season game (and still lost.) Even if the Patriots were filming signals, what could they have learned from a vanilla, glorified practice where Tampa was playing a bunch of guys who weren’t going to make the team?
