I went to check out that Peter King tweet and found him bitching about preseason ticket prices again. When will he get it through his fat fucking melon head that the number on the ticket doesn’t mean shit?

Explaining this to people who do things at a low to mediocre level at best can be very difficult I imagine.

“The thing about our team is we try and perform at a very, very high level,” Brady told WEEI. “8-8 isn’t the expectation for our team. Doing something 50/50 isn’t going to work out well for our team. I think we will all be frustrated by that level of performance. When you try and do things at an extremely high level, at a 14-2 level, a 15-1 level, it requires a different level of stamina and competition.”

that’s  why EEI and the Sports Hub have a hard time understanding.

I disagree WEEI knows how to perform on a high level! When the ratings book comes out they always kick ass in whatever made up demographic they are #1 in.

There sure seems to be a lot of these this year:

    Red Sox Notes @SoxNotes9s
This is the first time Red Sox starting pitchers have ever recorded 10+ strikeouts and 0 walks in consecutive team games (source: @EliasSports). Rick Porcello had 10 K and 0 BB tonight, after Chris Sale had 12 K and 0 BB on Sunday.

I cant help myself and have been hate reading the SOSH game threads the past week or so. Holy f’ing crap are they a bunch of shoe peeing Nancy’s. Sox are 50 games over .500 and throwing a combined 2 hitter and they are ALL acting like Brady just fumbled against the Eagles in the 4th quarter in the Super Bowl. Kimbrel walks a guy and the world is ending and they all want to DL him to “get some rest” and “obviously he must be injured”. Yet I cant stop reading and wondering who on earth gets this worked up over a meaningless game in the middle of August. Its just fascinating.

I know we have entertaining game threads for the Pats but seriously there are only 19 of them in a good year and are a bit more meaningful.

I was behind some douchebag Audi driver today. Gunning the engine and making his exhaust pop like he was some some F1 driver on a warm up lap. All on suburban streets doing 20 MPH. Had an alumni license plate frame and a sticker for his frat, of course.

“douchebag Audi driver” is a redundancy.

    tOSU alum / ParkPisser frat?

What I trying to say is did you flip off Breer?

And when was the last time he paid for a ticket, anyway?

Oakland is now a game behind Houston…so the wild card game could possibly be the unbeatable Yanks vs the unbeatable Astros.

    Team X-squared?

The phony/premature posting on the Wiki of Morgana King’s death (which I perpetuated here  :pk: ) sent me down a GF-1 rabbit-hole yesterday. So many impeccable scenes in that movie, like the baptism scene, the final Carlo scene, Louis’ Restaurant, anything with Lenny Montana in it (but not for the reasons you think  ), Jack Woltz’s anti-Italian tirade, “Do you know who I am? I’m Moe Green!”, anything with (Revere’s Own) John Cazale in them … but the opening scene is hard to beat.  Buonasera’s face coming out the darkness, his plea to the Don to avenge his daughter (and how that sets up the whole alternative universe of justice that the Corleones had created — repeated in GF-2 when young Vito rubs out the old gang leader in Little Italy and then gets the widow a break on her rent from the landlord). And then, of course, Brando giving Buonasera a quick lesson in “mob ethics” and hustles him out of the room, saying to Sonny and Hagan: “I mean, we’re not murderers, despite what this … undertaker says.”  Has there ever been an opening scene of a film so skillfully written, directed, photographed and acted?

Which leads me to the great references to the GF series in The Sopranos.  I still laugh at the scene where Tony meets with the undertaker to arrange for Livia’s funeral. The wise-ass undertaker: “I promise to use all my powers, and all my skills.”  Tony: “Cut it out.”

By the way, that extends to the female Audi drivers.  I got into a thing at the Hingham/Cohasset/Hull junction a couple weeks ago with some young twat in an A3.  led to me tailgating and winding up the turbo, until she pulled over.

Contrast that with GF3’s letter-to-my-children, here’s-where-we-left-off, let’s-get-you-all-caught-up exposition-a-thon, culminating in a church scene to help harken back to settle-all-family-business happier cinematic times. Then quick cut to Father Guido Sarducci singing at the reception to remind us all how far Coppolla had fallen (no offense to Don Novello).

GF-3 is a blur for me, except for Pacino’s “Every time I think I’m out … they pull me back in!” — Syl Dante’s favorite line.

It’s like Sofia Coppola’s horrendous performance just seeped into every scene in that film.

As someone says in The Sopranos — was it the gangsta rapper in Season 1? — (paraphrasing) “I love all the Godfather movies, except for Three. I mean … What happened?”

Sofia Coppola aside (and remember she was a last minute sub for Winona Ryder who was sick), its still kind of a crap script.

Andy Garcia doesn’t get enough shit for the scenery he chews in that one.
