ParticipantWhile in Richmond went to Triple Crossing Brewery. That’s a damn good place. I’ve had a half of dozen beers from there and everything was really good to excellent. Recommend stopping there if you are ever in Richmond.

ParticipantWe’ve hit this really great point where local breweries exist for everyone, where I still like Sierra Nevada and Harpoon but the locals make more than I could ever drink. Admitedly I have Jacks abby but the point stands, delicious beer by people in your neighborhood, its finally here cheers!

Can confirm. Clever Girl is fantastic.
Virginia has so many good breweries now. Commonwealth (VA Beach), 3-Notch’d (C’ville and Richmond) and Ocelot (Dulles) are all top notch.

ParticipantChico, do you know anything about the Rhode Island Brew Bus? Is there a good location to stay in Providence near some brewpubs or beer bars?
Come back, Regular Brian.

ParticipantLooking at the website it looks like all the meeting points for the bus are inconvenient to Providence – (downtown Westerly, Sons Of Liberty in SK, “near the Jamestown Bridge”?) The hilton downtown is right across the street from Trinity Brewhouse, about a 10 minute walk from Long Live Beerworks (worth checking out) and right by the highway so a few minutes drive to Pawtucket (Foolproof, Bucket brewery) Other places are closer to URI (Proclamation, Whalers, etc) and more of a drive.

ParticipantOn Easter I opened up a 2015 Founder’s KBS. I think I kept it well, basement with no light. I found it a bit too boozy. It had some nice flavors otherwise.

ParticipantA friend just came back from Chicago, brought a couple of fantastic beers-
Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn double IPA, one of the smoothest double IPAs I’ve ever had (8.0)
3 Floyds Brewery Zombie Dust American Pale Ale. Quite simply one of the best beers I’ve ever had. 100 score on Beer Advocate and can’t argue. Perfect.

ParticipantPipeworks has some good stuff… half acre is making some good beers too . Just got a drop of moonraker out of cali. Haven’t had a bad beer yet from the bunch. Real smooth.
Hoping to get to tilted barn in a few weeks. I hear they are putting out great beers

ParticipantBar with outdoor seating, big glass of New Belgium Voodoo Ranger 8 Hop, not a bad day. At all.

ParticipantJohn Harvards Framingham Brando is practically Tree House Alter Ego if you can’t get out to TH.
Last week I got a sampler, then full pour, then 32 oz growler and it was near spot on. So I went back, got a 64 oz this week, it gets a bit hot in the 4th pint, its not an exact replicant. If you’re drinking less than 4 pints, in a triple blind I couldn’t distinguish this from TH Alter Ego … And this was the first 64 I tried to down myself in maybe 3 years, yknow for science, so for all practical purposes it’s TH quality.
Go buy some as I’m sure the brewer will soon move to some 18th century garconniere in East Bumfvcvk MA where once a week you can buy 1 can after standing in line for 7 hours
The other beers are just as good for their style, I mean Christ after enjoying all the ones worth trying last week I branched out today and took home a 32 of their Belgian Wit and actually thought 12 ounces were good enough to drink before using the rest in a marinade. Do I wish I got the WC IPA or the Coffee Porter, or the excellent Pils, or the Saison even in that baby growler? Well yeah if course, but I could drink 12 oz of Belgian Wit from there an accomplishment in itself.

DC Proper?: Probably DC Brau.
DC Metro: Aslin or Ocelot, both in the Virginia suburbs.

ParticipantPicked up a couple from Greater Good, Pulp and Mt Greylock.
They bill themselves as the first all Imperial brewery. Pulp I’ve had before it’s quite a nice DIPA not really NEIPA flavors are close, very tropical, mouthfeel and appearance way off, but it is quite a nice beer. Greylock … Hoo boy has that DFH 120 hop candy impact, I bet I would like it after or better yet crack it open while shoveling in Jan, then finish it in front of the fireplace as I try to work my shoulders into a semblance of working order.
If you see Greater Good and know you have one of those “honey do” waiting at home, then get it. If you’re not facing an afternoon of being torn apart then it is too much.
