Mean and Not For Everyone
Severin’s channeling his inner Andelman with his tweets. Yikes. I forgot about Hank Morris, and I haven’t heard anything about him since 96.9 pulled the plug on Barnicle. I always thought he was on the show because he was someone’s brother-in-law.
I believe he ended up with Loren and Wally.
I don’t think I ever actually heard Barnicle and Shaughnessy on the radio together. That must have been brutal.
I have a full house on that one, “courtesy” of a weekend radio show from some years back. I’m not sure who hosted the show, but I assume Barnicle. The line-up was him, Shank, and the late prognosticator/pugilist Will McDonough. The era: when the priest diddling scandals were just starting to come out into the open. All three were outraged that the holy name of the Catholic Church was being besmirched. Each of them testified vehemently, then with sorrow directed toward the misinformed and the heathens, that no priest had ever touched them except to offer a pat on the shoulder and extend a helping hand*. It set a new world record in sanctimony — no small feat when you consider its participants. Of course, I would expect that post Pulitzer and Spotlight, Barnicle would now present himself as the brave reporter who helped guide the spotlight investigation, but of course was too humble to take any credit, ending his martini-breath monologue with “It was time to let the boys step up.” Luckily, no one caught me barfing in the parking lot at Marshall’s. * somehow, Paul McCartney’s “Rough Ride” popped into my brain as I typed that phrase. EDIT: Big Fat O and andrew obviously share my pain.
Just like the drugs, Whitey kept the pedophiles out of Southie. Except for himself, apparently.
