Takeaway from Rams camp: Sean McVay is in command, and the place looks like it’s humming. They went 11-on-11 for a big percentage of practice, and the pace and rhythm is impressive. LOTS of situational work.

No fucking around folks, 11 on 11. No one does that but hardos who are in command! Pace! Rhythm! I might have gone with TONS instead of LOTS but that’s just me. That’s what I like.

Albert left out, ‘he called me, bro.’

It will be fun to root against the Rams this year.

Wonder if Wahlberg will play himself in the movie. Among the multitude of diversions from the truth, they’ll have Marky Mark present for all of 51.

Didn’t Kraft only ‘reluctantly’ accept the lost picks/fines in order to end the rhetoric, or did that include accepting Brady’s suspension as well?

I really wanted to root for them and the Dodgers this year but just cant do it. The media fawning over the both of them has me wishing nothing but bad things upon all things West Coast. I might actually start rooting for the Chargers just to annoy everyone here. Granted its not the players fault. Machado seems like a good guy. Puig is entertaining as hell and reminds me of an early Manny Ramirez. The Rams seem to want to employ a “score 50 and let them try and catch us” strategy which is always fun to watch….but throw in the nonsense of Lebron making the Lakers relevant again and the media here going on and on about “How Tom Brady and those types have never opened a school like Lebron just did…” coupled with the fawning over and over no matter how bad some of the decisions of the teams are and I want them all to fail. Bigly. Its like the alternate universe of the Boston Sports Media where its roses no matter what instead of the media actively rooting against the team as it makes for more clicks. There has to be a happy medium someplace, no?

Much as I believe Brady wouldn’t sell out JJ and JM, the attribution Sherman has is:

“There’s no way I’m gonna ruin these guys for something I believe they didn’t do,” Brady is said to have told DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association and Brady’s legal representative, according to the book.

“Brady is said to have told Smith.” That carefully worded line means:

    • Brady didn’t say this to the authors;
    • Smith didn’t say this to the authors; and
    • The person who did tell this to the authors didn’t hear it from Brady or Smith. It’s multi-party hearsay.

I assume homeless looking desperate brother Donnie will play Marky Mark, with his rapidly melting plastic wife, Jenny McCarthy, playing Gisele.

Marky will, of course, play Tom Brady and the whole movie will be shot on an upward angle from his ankles, since Marky Marky is about 4’9”.

Urban was banging a student at Utah which greased the skids for his exit. At UF, besides keeping the police blotter full he was banging his admin. Wife found out and he had “health issues” and out the door. Scumbag through and through.

Watched some snippet of Breer on Dickface Eisen’s podcast, where Eisen refers to Bert as a ‘noted alum.’  Breer refers to Josh Brown and says well at first we thought it was one thing and then it turned into something else.  Um, no, anyone who was paying attention said wait why did he only get 1 game when the policy is 6 yet no one in the intrepid media bothered to even ask about that, let alone all the material the cops had that no one bothered to follow up on.

Since Pete is gone if he’s the run who runs that site they should rename it ‘Territorial Pissings’

Were that the case, wouldn’t Sherman specify that? According to somebody in the room…

It’s a more solid source than, “Brady is said to have told Smith.”

And I’d really really like this to be true, in it shows how empty Goodell’s words of protecting the integrity of the league really were. All that bluster about holding everybody accountable, no matter how high profile, when the truth was he’d accept any old scapegoat.

Tony Mazz can’t remember Decker playing well against the Patriots seven months ago but he knows Kinsler’s Gold Glove from 2016 is a fraud and he hasn’t played good defense this year.

Mazz has rocketed pass Dale on my media hatred list.

Mazz knows his stuff. Kinsler has looked absolutely horrible in the field tonight.

Or the exact opposite of that.

First Bert’s old college bar gets turned into a Target, now this. Why do bad things happen to good people? 😆

What did I miss and how? Who gives half a shit about Ohio State? Let alone parading around like some third-tier clothing company’s bargain-fee model.  (By the way, Breer is not a good-looking man.)
Sorry to be so provincial, but to be so proud of attending (graduating from?) tOSU in this area is either desperate “look at me” contrarianism or delusional.

I heard the two guys that wrote the new Deflategate book yucking it up on the classic rock station this morning.

Revisiting some posts from yesterday:  after hearing them, I seriously wonder if they spoke directly to ANYONE involved in any aspect of this.   Their answer to everything border upon “people say….”   Didn’t talk to the two equipment guys.  Don’t seem to have any direct sources in the NFL offices or the NFL in general.   Dropping phrases like “fortress Foxborough,” laughing that they covered the mob in Boston for years, and they’ve never seen anyone disappear like the two equipment idiots, ha ha ha ha ha.

As much as I like some of the snippets that make Goodell look as evil as I thought or Kraft as stupid as I believe, I think this is just another anecdotal mish mash of crap that makes a lot of assumptions based on heresay, rumor and innuendo.

Hey, it’s the one vice poor Bert allows himself.  Of course he’s also a conference hardo.  And like all of the other college weirdos the coach and players could be raping and murdering co-eds who cares as long as they beat Michigan.  I think it was a few years back 60 Minutes Sports did a segment on Baylor when they interviewed the regents about all the shit going on that campus between Bliss and the basketball program however many years back through Briles and his group wilding all over Waco.  These people are holier than though praise Jesus freaks and it didn’t faze them in the least.  Empty the penitentiaries and let’s win the Big 12.  They’re all fucked in the head.

Bored on a Friday so listening to an interview with Brett McMurphy, I haven’t read everything  he’s put out there about the Ohio St. mess but he’s saying that all of his sources are on record and that he has no unnamed sources.  He put out what he had on Facebook and they fired Smith the next day.  No wonder ESPN laid him off.  Sorry Brett but we require long form articles and columns that are 100% agenda driven with zero sourcing.  This fully sourced bullshit just doesn’t cut it.  We’re going to have to let you go.

Was reading more on McMurphy at Awful Announcing

Brett McMurphy is still under contract with ESPN. He still gets paid by ESPN despite having been laid off over a year ago. His contract expires this fall, and we’ve been told (and it’s been reported) that once he isn’t under contract, he’ll land at Stadium.

Apparently it took ESPN 4 or 5 hours after the story was released to even acknowledge it

ESPN folks were defensive when we (and many others) were vocal about the four hour delay. One thing that we discovered is that ESPN was holding a college football reporter seminar when this story broke. Some at ESPN believe McMurphy planned the release of the story to fall in that gap, an accusation McMurphy takes great offense to.

ESPN also said they were delaying because they were working on their own ‘original reporting’

When ESPN did finally publish a story, it was a pretty simple aggregated rewrite that heavily leaned on McMurphy’s original report, with not much (if any) of their own reporting or commentary. It essentially was indistinguishable from other versions that appeared on other sports sites hours earlier.

Forgot Urb had a 1 season cup of coffee with ESPN between his ‘health issues’ at Florida and his miraculous recovery in time to take the Ohio St. job.  Probably want to protect a good ol’ boy.

Yesterday the afternoon chuckleheads were going on and on about how Aaron Donald was the best player in the NFL last year. Not the best defensive player. The BEST PLAYER in the entire league and if anyone should get QB money it should be that guy. Aside from the fact the best player won the MVP trophy (and often takes less money to help build a better team around him) and it would be team suicide to pay a pass rusher $25 million a year and he STILL has a year left on his contract that he should be honoring, it didn’t matter. Pay the man his money. Caller called in and said they cant pay him QB money because they have to pay Goff QB money and Goff is far more important than Donald. Nope. Hearing none of it. One of the NFL insiders called in (not Breer even though he was in town) saying that a lot of teams are getting away from paying defensive players (see Khalil Mack in Oakland) as its become an offensive league. This made the most sense I’ve heard in a while and why teams are throwing stupid money at WR’s and RB’s. They’re putting all the money on offense and trying to get by with veterans and scrap heap guys on defense. Makes sense. They were having none of it. Just get him in the room and pay him. Cap? What cap. He’s earned it. Same guys saying the league will stop Jimmy G from dating a porn star. Same guys saying that Lebron opened a school and what has Brady ever done. Just put on the radio…someone somewhere will run with it.

BTW if you go by AV on Pro-FootballReference Donald was 9th in the NFL and 4th among defensive players. Whoever said LA tends to over value their players?

    Please enjoy this excerpt from my forthcoming documentary, ‘Tom vs. Time Off’;

ESTABLISHING SHOT – GILLETTE STADIUM EXTERIOR

    TITLE CARD
2014 New England Patriots Training Camp

CUT TO – GILLETTE STADIUM – HOME SIDELINE – PRACTICE IN SESSION

CUT TO – TOM BRADY (in red no-contact jersey, repeatedly practicing his dropbacks)

BILL BELICHICK, (in shorts, t-shirt & visor, nonchalantly twirling his whistle on its lanyard) approaches BRADY.

    BELICHICK
    Hey Tom. Tom!

    BRADY
(pointedly ignores BELICHICK, and continues his practicing)

    BELICHICK
(under his breath) Jesus Fucking Christ. (addressing BRADY) Excuse me, Tom, sir?

    BRADY
(stops and turns toward BELICHICK) Yeah Coach?

    BELICHICK
Do you remember that scheme we have planned to illegally deflate footballs outside of their required pounds per inch?

    BRADY
I’m generally aware of it, yes.

    BELICHICK
Bad news, the guy who was going to handle it, 12 balls in under ninety seconds? Annapolis graduate, rescue swimmer; Ernie just found out he was killed in a car accident.

    BRADY
That’s terrible. Where’d it happen? Attleboro?

    BELICHICK
Aleppo. (shrugs, takes slurp of soup)

    BRADY
    So what happens now?

    BELICHICK
I guess we just play with footballs inflated outside of your preferred comfort zone. (removes a handful of pen-shaped tire pressure gauges from his shorts pockets and disgustedly tosses them aside.)

    BRADY
I don’t know, if we do that we may not be able to reach the playoffs and humiliate the Colts. Can’t someone in-house do the job?

    BELICHICK
I don’t know, is there anyone you can think of?

(Camera pans to opposite sideline, stopping on the distant figures of JASTREMSKI and MCNALLY)

    (NO SFX)

MCNALLY takes out a handkerchief and blows his nose, then opens the handkerchief to show JASTREMSKI the contents. JASTREMSKI’S shoulders shake in an obvious pantomime of laughter)

    BRADY
Johnny over there, and what’s his bucket, the other guy; how about them?

    BELICHICK
Sure, what’s the worst that can happen? (slurps soup)

    END

If Brady opened a school, the Daily Beast would be in a race with other outlets to find fault with his motivation, the curriculum, what students it served, etc. In that article, they repeated last year’s “scandal” about his charitable work. I think the author believes that whatever money was donated to the school that Brady’s kids attend only benefited the Brady children. And, once they moved on to a different school, whatever was donated would be taken away from the school.
