How the fuck can you guys listen to Maron? He could be interviewing force ghost Reagan and Sinatra and I’d bail.

It is tough. Same thing with Hardwick on Nerdist and Minihane. If I like the guest enough, I’ll put up with the host.

Nice thing about Bluetooth in my car, I can hold down a button on my steering wheel and FF thru the first 20 mins when Maron is talking about his fucking cats.

I like Maron.  He’s not a terrific interviewer, but I like his guests.  I can take or leave the pre-show preaching.

I like his IFC show, but I really like the writing of Dave Anthony and Jerry Stahl.

I want to drive to LA and punch him in the face when does a “yeah, yeah, yeah” to make it seem like he knows what the guest is talking about. Like others have said, it depends on the guest. The more he knows the guest, the more he lets them talk, it seems.

If you have Showtime, they have the Tower Records doc that Colin Hanks did last year on demand. It was pretty good.

    Fucking Reddit

I made the joke to girlfriend that Captain America has been in the Army for 66 years and is still just a captain. She told me yeah but he’s been frozen since 1945. Then I said oh my gosh that means that they owe him 66 years back pay because technically he was never relieved of Duty. So I did the math.

The O-3 pay grade in 1945 for someone with two years or less experience was $313.50 a quarter. If you had specialized training such as parachuting and Special Operations (which he does) you received an extra $100 per quarter. Plus a quarterly living allowance without a dependent of $82.50. That comes out to $496 a quarter. That’s $1,984 per year for his first three years. So that’s $5,952 right there, considering that he was commissioned the same year that he exited basic.

Also, there is an biannual increase of pay for service with a pay cap at 22 years with no increase of specialized pay or living allowance. Now provided that they kept him at the 1945 pay scale, for the 22 years after that, he would have received a total of $81,684 plus the previous $5,952 giving him a grand total of $87,636.

Now, provided that they kept the pay scale constant for the 66 years after, and they thawed him out in 2011 and immediately returned him to active duty with current Commission (which they did), adjusted for inflation, the government owes him the back pay amount of $3,154,619.52.

After doing this calculation, the saddest part to me is that is still ridiculously low for the danger that he and all other American soldiers, past and present, put themselves in. God bless the American troops.

We tried with the Avengers shit. It’s just not my thing. The first half of the First Avenger was really great. Once he starts fighting, I don’t give a shit.  It’s a shame.  All I care about is backstory.

    Stuff I have enjoyed recently:

    – Hush is fucking fantastic.

    – The Witch was amazing.

    – Meru is roughly 1000 times better than Touching the Void.

To each their own.  Cap is my favorite, has been for ages, but I can see why it’s not for everyone.

Frankly, after Iron Man 3, I am looking forward to anyone settling Iron Man’s hash.

They’re both great. I’d pick What We Do in The Shadows.

You’d like it, I think. Mockumentary about vampires. Got Jemaine and Murray Hewitt from FOTC in it. Hilarious.

Agreed wholeheartedly on the first two, haven’t seen Meru but I’ll give a go.  Mrs loves documentaries.

Ho Lee Shit. Civil War is better than I imagined.

No spoilers. Just go see the fucking thing.

Do we really need the Stan Lee cameo?  My only gripe. And it’s minor.

Yeah, but then he’d also have to rely on the VA for his medical care. Captain America can survive Nazis, Aliens, evil Norse Gods, and killer Stark-bots, but the VA would have him in for a checkup and mistakenly cut off his leg and give him pig AIDS

I was never a comic book guy and only enjoy the movies marginally but a Stan Lee cameo is that troublesome?  He only created the whole fucking thing, it’s not like they throw him a major part.  Like Hitchcock in his movies.

Bucky Barnes has to be the worst name ever.  Reminds me of the ship in Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

Watched Age of Ultron this week and forgot how particularly egregious that Stan Lee cameo was. He plays a WWII vet who somehow gets into a Tony Stark party and gets drunk under the table by Thor.

All in all, that movie wasn’t as bad as I remember it being. Though Ultron is just terrible.

I can’t say it’s any more egregious than Scarlet Johansen begging Mark Ruffalo to bang the hell out of her and him refusing.

After all the hype and rave reviews, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War fell short to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on opening night. Marvel’s latest pulled in $25 million last night, which is almost $3 million shy of Batman v Superman’s $27.7 million Thursday debut.

Seriously. That’s the most unrealistic thing in a movie that has flying human flesh robots.

    Another part I forgot about:

Thor takes a breather by grabbing up Professor Lambueaux to go swimming in a cave so he can get struck by lightning for some reason. Completely blocked that part out.
