Didn’t feel I had the sway to start a new James Bond thread, so I thought I’d post this here. The Guardian has the 1st SPECTRE Review.
Now, I have thought this since Daniel Craig’s second Bond film, but it raised my eyebrows and will no doubt be a topic of debate.
Is this Craig’s last hurrah as Bond? His somewhat tetchy remarks in interviews preceding this movie – indicating a readiness to quit – oddly mirror the tetchy media comments that greeted the news of his casting almost 10 years ago. Craig showed they were wrong: and I hope he carries on now. He is one of the best Bonds and an equal to Connery. That great big handsome-Shrek face with its sweetly bat ears has grown into the role.October 23, 2015 at 6:28 pm #13600Patrick PassParticipant

I got two tickets to a sneak preview of the movie about the Globe ratting out the pedophile priests. Panel discussion after. At Coolidge Corner — only after grabbing them did I realize it’s 11:00 in the morning (on Wed 10/28). Anyone have a use for them? I can email them. It sucked. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. If I was from Chicago I’d have thought it sucked. Public Enemies, basically which was ok but nothing great.
Watched it tonight. I feel like it’s too strong to say it sucked, but man, there was absolutely nothing special about it either.
No directorial style to it. I guess Depp was good, but the makeup job was so distracting at times, it completely takes you out of the movie. I thought Edgerton was terrible, and pretty much everyone else was irrelevant, especially the Flemmi guy. Seems like a waste of a story.October 24, 2015 at 11:50 pm #13666
Watched it again last night at home and came here to say I liked Edgerton’s performance. Definitely liked the movie better the second time which is surprising because the rewatchability is for shit.November 2, 2015 at 2:47 pm #15784

Laugh if you must, but there’s a movement on the interwebs (Reddit) to re-evaluate the purpose, presence, and ultimate importance of Jar Jar Binks.
I knows, he was even more annoying than the Ewoks. But check out this analysis. Can’t say that it doesn’t make a twisted sort of sense.

I saw Bridge of Spies. Thought it was real good. Nothing too thought provoking, but just entertaining. Also thought the sets were terrific recreating that era.November 13, 2015 at 1:26 pm #17671Miserable FellowParticipant

if Stallone doesn’t win best supporting actor there should be an investigation. (maybe Tom Hardy is as good in the Revenant…he won’t be better)November 30, 2015 at 2:28 pm #21581

Also, check out a movie called Mississippi Grind, which I just rented On Demand just because Ben Mendelsohn from Bloodlines was in it playing another degenerate.December 1, 2015 at 3:17 pm #21798
