Still doesn’t get much better to me than the Gervais XFM shows.  Listen to them all the time.

I asked about Thinking Sideways podcast on the old board and finally listened to it. Somewhat similar to The Dollop, it’s three people discussing some piece of history. Each piece is a mystery like the Tylenol killings or the 1998 killings at the Vatican and it’s not done for comedy. The three of them research the event independently, describe it, and then discuss the theories about the mystery. Unfortunately, two of the hosts have awful voices and it’s kind of a drag.

The Bob Costas one? Yeah, that’s probably a skipper.

The last one was tremendous. After 45 minutes of pretty respectful talk with George Carlin’s daughter about growing up in that crazy household with druggie parents, Gilbert out of nowhere asks her if she still likes to suck cock. Even Frank Santopadre seemed shocked.

I was ready to do the same but said WTF and listened. Definately heard a different side of the preening cunt Costas. Gilbert was outstanding especially retelling Bob’s fav Gilbert joke (last 10 mins of show).

I haven’t listened to Stern in at least 2 years. I guess I haven’t missed much.

Does Artie make any $ doing his podcast? I cant imagine anyone subscribing if its just going to hit the internet anyway.

Marc Maron with Keith Richards is such a douche. He’s got overly familiar Barnicleisms out the ass.

“So you got to play with Muddy and Chuck. Did you ever play with Wolf?”

The guitar lingo is annoying too. “Wow, you used an open A on that song?”

    Anyone subscribe to Artie’s podcast?

I’ve gotten out of the habit of listening to a daily show since Stern and Carolla, but the people who Artie retweets every day seem to love it.

Chalk Talk with Doug Farrar and Greg Cosell.  Really good X’s and O’s, and no stooorylines.  Really, I’d recommend going back and listening to their Super Bowl preview show and seeing how much of the strategy concerns Cosell thought of in advance.

I’ve occasionally listened to Advanced Football Analytics, Over The Cap, Patriots 4th and 2, Grandstanding, and Move the Sticks, but not regularly. The first two are very dry, the latter three indulge in HotTakez to varying degrees.

Crosses a few threads figured I’d put here –  enjoyed the John Fogerty interview on Opie this AM.    Admittedly while I always have enjoyed Fogerty and his music I thought he always came across as an ass, so it was good to hear his version of things.  In the breakup of CCR and the last record where he had Cook and Clifford write and sing their own songs as they wanted more say in the songs, he made an interesting comment about the Beatles and their influence on bands in the late ’60s/early ’70s – namely you had 3 talented songwriters and vocalists and that other bands wanted to be like that too but simply couldn’t.  The Fantasy Records stuff was informative, while I knew they sued I didn’t know that in the contract they could let the other 3 go but keep Fogerty, and he was required to deliver 180 songs over a 7 year period.  He went to them to try and negotiate it down – no way anyone can write that many songs and this is ruining my life – and Zantz said hey all the great art in the world is made by depressed people so you should do fine.  Then his brother signed with Fantasy while the rest of them were suing.  I knew there was some lawsuit when Centerfield came out, didn’t know he got sued for “Old Man Down the Road” being a ripoff of … “Run Through The Jungle” which was a CCR song he wrote but didn’t own.  And Zantz testified that Doug Clifford came to him and said it was a ripoff which begat the lawsuit, which then explained the cluster at CCR’s induction at the HOF and explained to me at least why Fogerty was refusing to play with them.  He also said he met with them the day before and said I won’t play with you and it wasn’t some kind of quick bum rush the stage with an all star band backing me so I can screw these guys over.  His appearance was to promote his book “Fortunate Son”

My latest podcast fascination is the Brett Easton Ellis podcast. I’m convinced that no one love the sound of his own voice more than this guy.

John Dennis woukd think his questions to guests are kinda long-winded.

Listened to the PFT Commenter podcast on Opie Radio.  I think I hate it but I can’t tell.  It’s mildly humorous and the shelf life seems pretty short.  The only funny part was that he does a weekly investigation segment with Serial music (which is fucked out) into whether or not Flacco is elite.  The best part might be the callers calling in with their purposely idiotic takes.

Love the Goodfellas Minute podcast. (Yeah, go figure.)

Turns out some of the actors in the introduction scene were just as big a scumbag criminal as the real life guy he was playing.

I was very familiar with the story…we actually had a very similar situation in my neighborhood, causing much conversation about the comparisons.

I still loved it..their take on it was outstanding!

Ready to tap out on Carolla, unless it’s Fitzsimmons or Gould.  Jo Koy sounds exhausted with it all  “Let’s say Bung Loo Soo was at a Dodgers game!” :weei:

finally started the Dollop this weekend.  Holy shit    Is there any benefit to listening to them in sequence?

I’m listening to them more or less backwards although I listen to a new episode when they come up.  I think each seems self contained.

I gave up on the first LAPD episode. 2, 3 and 4 were outstanding.

2 was insanely funny. It was the LA Confidential years. Tons o’ curruption.

First 3 must listens, besides LAPD, are Rube, $ .10 Beer Night , and The Egg Nog Riot.

Heard about a podcast called Lore. Kind of like sideways in telling stories about spooky legends of old except the shows are about 15-20 mins long. The guy doing the podcast is from around here so a lot of the shows are new england centric.

Downloaded a few episodes and liked what I heard.

FCM, when does Walking the Room pick up? I think you mentioned on the other board that one should listen to them sequentially. I listened to the first two episodes and didn’t get much laughs. I picked up on some things that might be interesting, like their drinking days and Dave’s father.

Also, the first two episodes do help rehabilitate Greg’s image a bit. He said the talk show was a mistake. His books are just his thoughts and he doesn’t want to be a self help guru to anybody.

Gilbert mentions Stern later on and says it’s super awkward between them now.

It kinda sucked. Artie is as bad as Stern or Carolla in retelling stories you’ve heard a bunch of times already. This one it’s scoring coke dressed as a pig, and “Jew broad kills Draculas”.

Really enjoying the Dollop. Just heard 10 Cent beer night    Listening to them sequentially (it does help a bit)  A subtle thing I’m enjoying is that Dave, funny as he is, is kind of dumb and can’t really read very well
