Just reading Kevin’s post. That would seem to maybe confirm it. Dumb. I still say he was there for like a month. And that’s a long way from slinging drinks at Old Sully’s.

Anyone gonna hate listen to Simmons and Maron on WTF? I can’t do it

I gave it a whirl. Its funny to listen to him basically admit most of his “act” was stolen. He doesn’t say it all at once but as he’s talking about his career there are like 3-4 instances of “and I just stole that concept from ” . He even admitted that now that he is a “boss” he can see that he was a pain in the ass in his early ESPN days. It was kind of a nothing of an interview. Maron hates sports so they didn’t really connect. I get uncomfortable whenever a guest makes an obvious sports reference and he goes along with it, knowing he has no clue. Also, i always roll my eyes when Billy tries to say that he loved “writing” like he’s some artist or something. :pk:

That’s where podcasting gets too far up it’s own ass for me. Has Simmons ever explained why he hasn’t revealed the name of where he worked? Besides it being made up, has he concocted some bullshit story or Simmons-esque “I don’t watch the Simpsons because everyone else does” or whatever?

Sounds like a scenario where he got caught stealing liquor or cash and was presented with a choice of either quitting or getting fired/prosecuted.  He quit and he doesn’t mention the place.  I honestly can’t think of any other reason why you wouldn’t mention it, like what he had creative differences with the owner and they refuse to talk about it?  It could also be giving shit away, like if his friends came in and he set them up eating and drinking all night.  Bars are loaded with spotters that watch bartenders like pit bosses watching dealers.

Maybe I’m finally ageing out of these endless Marvel movies.    What a POS!

Biggest issue is that it was a podcast!

Every now and then I like to see who Carroll’s has had on lately. Oof.

Dennis Miller and Paul Rodriguez on consecutive days.  Willie Tyler and Lester must have been busy.

Anybody listen to Chip Chipperson, Jim Norton’s podcast? I just heard about it. Watching a live taping and Bobby Kelly is a fucking mess.

    Come back, Regular Brian.

I listened to a bunch at the beginning, but he’s such an inconsistent/one trick pony character.

Bawby is on like his tenth fat. He might not see 50. Colin has called Bobby a “last minute gift at the Beijing airport” and “the Iranian Kevin James.”

If you haven’t listened to Andy Daly’s Podcast Pilot Project do so. Behind the sticker paywall

a couple of clunkers, but at least 12 brilliant comedy podcasts. Gold.

Wondery has a new Jaws podcast out.

The first episode was a little slow.
Spielberg made movies as a kid, and that’s the only way he fit in? You don’t say!

Their podcast on John Holmes and the Wonderland murders was great. I didn’t know how much Boogie Nights stuff was taken from Holmes’ life.

Thought Willie had some good stories when he was on with Gilbert?

There was a movie on the John Holmes/Wonderland murders with Val Kilmer as John Holmes.  Memory serves it was pretty good.  Aptly titled “Wonderland”

Really enjoying the Dollop. Just heard 10 Cent beer night 😆 Listening to them sequentially (it does help a bit) A subtle thing I’m enjoying is that Dave, funny as he is, is kind of dumb and can’t really read very well

Word. I have front row seats at the Wilbur in November.

The RFK Tapes is fascinating. Probably bullshit, but fascinating.

Thanks for the heads up. First episode was good.  I’ve seen Wonderland and read a decent amount about the murders but there was some stuff in there that was new to me.  Didn’t realize Holmes just told his straight as an arrow nurse wife “going to be a porn star!” and they just stayed married

Thought the two narrator format was pretty neat, where the woman starts out with the crime scene and works backwards and the guy starts out with Holmes getting into porn and works forward.

He had a severe speech impediment growing up, and it creeps back in occasionally.

    Getting into Crimetown finally.

Raymond LS having guys rob his own crew’s money stash because he was pissed about how little was being kicked up when he was in Federal is some shit that David Chase would think is too much.

No Caesar Romero/Orange Wedge stories in the article, but this should Gilbert some material going forward.

What stories do you hope they do/don’t do? They already did Boston’s busing crisis, right?  Whitey Bulger? Some pilgrim atrocity?
