Really enjoying the Dollop. Just heard 10 Cent beer night  Listening to them sequentially (it does help a bit) A subtle thing I’m enjoying is that Dave, funny as he is, is kind of dumb and can’t really read very well

His pronunciation of anything not in California, or anything Native American is suspect.  When you get to the live one, Patton Oswalt has some general Dollop themes that have held to be universal truths.

I might have to listen to 10 Cent Beer Night again.  All the baseball ones (The Rube, 10 Cent Beer Night, Lenny Dykstra and The Yankee Pitcher Swap) are (pardon the pun) homeruns.

I have a problem with the Australian ones.  I find the Aussie accentz impenetrable.  It’s like the Fortress of Solitude, or that half Korean broad from college’s knees.

At some point they got into trouble with source material and I think the quality went down a little.

Hopefully you’re getting close to LAPD month. I stopped part 1 1/2 way through but 2, 3, and 4 were outstanding.

Going on a Walking the Room kick again. #50, Dave, Greg and Patton Oswalt give their favorite bin Laden stories as if he was a contemporary comic actor.

Any other episodes of Walking the Room you would recommend? I like listening to them, but some shows have nothing going on. I think it would have been different listening to them when they put up the podcasts, but hearing these guys talk about their lives four years later is depressing.

Anyone still listening to You Must Remember this? I’m done with it. Skipped the last couple episodes and only will listen to the last on on Louie B.  They all started sounding the same. vapid cunts the lot of them.  For some reason I always have to listen to the end when she says the “the show written…” The way she says written or anything thing with a tten at the end of a word make me want to strangle her.   I’m not sure why.

Meanwhile when she says her boyfriend try’s the Harry and David razors, do you believe she has a boyfriend?

Nice! I thought the hard T thing was something only I noticed. It’s incredibly annoying.

I bailed out after it stopped being about Charlie Manson.

I guess she did one on the woman who played Violet Bick I might go back and check out.

I am enjoying Serial.  The stakes are much lower because it’s not like they’re going to execute the guy. But the storytelling is good and it does a nice job of exploring political issues without being political.

Yes.  I like that and How Did This Get Made? about the same for bad movie podcasts. The Flophouse episode on “Food Fight” is pretty epic.

It grates my ears for some strange reason. Meanwhile, I’m halfway through the Louie B Mayer episode and she mentions a future series on the House Committee on Un-American Activities.  That would be a good listen so I’ll keep subscribing but will not be so religious in my listening.

manson episodes were good but as a manson connoisseur it lacked at times. could of gone way deeper, best manson related material still is ‘the family’ by ed sanders.

You mean how she pronounces it like “wridden”? Guy who works for me says his double-Ts like that, too. Drives me nuts.

FWIW, her boyfriend is Rian Johnson. Heard her on the Longform pod and she was actually pretty interesting/amusing.

The film buffs among us might like “I was there too”.  I’ve only listened to the Inglorious Bastards episode so far and I like it.  The concept is they talk to a supporting actor in a movie and walk through that person’s experience.  I think the guy from IB was named Paul Rust.

Chalk Talk with Doug Farrar and Greg Cosell. Really good X’s and O’s, and no stooorylines. Really, I’d recommend going back and listening to their Super Bowl preview show and seeing how much of the strategy concerns Cosell thought of in advance. I’ve occasionally listened to Advanced Football Analytics, Over The Cap, Patriots 4th and 2, Grandstanding, and Move the Sticks, but not regularly. The first two are very dry, the latter three indulge in HotTakez to varying degrees.

Went to check out Chalk Talk to see if there is a playoff preview and it appears to have ended. I checked a few sites and the last podcast was week three.

    Per this article http://thecomicscomic.com/2016/01/06/artie-lange-on-showtimes-the-nasty-show-and-finding-serenity-in-his-kitchen-based-podcast/

Artie Lange is making between 1.2 and 1.3 million a year from his podcast and stand up. For a guy that’s burned that many bridges, that’s kind of amazing.

It did seem to me that there were a lot of PC picks, especially the more recent stuff. My father got a book on the history of comedy since around 1900 for Christmas. I started it, but didn’t get very far less than a day. I will have to pick it up from him when he gets back.

Dana Gould gets an IFC show

IFC has given series orders to two comedies, Hank Azaria’s “Brockmire” and “Stan Against Evil,” from “The Simpsons” alum Dana Gould.

    Both series have eight-episode orders.

“Stan Against Evil” revolves around a disgruntled sheriff of a New England town, built upon the site of a witch burning ground, who is forced to retire but winds up teaming with his female successor to fight off a plague of demons. Dana Gould is writing and exec producing with Tom Lassally for Radical Media. Frank Scherma and Justin Wilkes are also exec producing. The series is targeted to debut late this year.

Jesus Christ, still with the Dora the Explorer?

Adam Carolla is a lot of things: the world’s top podcaster, a former “Man Show” co-founder, and the father of 9-year-old twins. One thing he is not is a fan of “Dora the Explorer” — and the “Road Hard” star is supplementing that disdain by putting his money where his mouth is.

On Friday’s “Adam Carolla Show” podcast, the multi-hyphenate pledged $10,000 to any writer of the cartoon who can hack it in the adult sitcom world.

“They’re capable of providing entertainment for … children and retarded adults,” Carolla quipped, explaining that only a 48-year-old with the intellect of a 7-year-old child could possibly dig “Dora.”

“Do not ever think for one second — one hot second — that you can provide entertainment for anybody that has two brain cells to rub together,” he ranted. “Don’t think I don’t know how weak and feeble you are, and you couldn’t write a joke that would make it onto a Tim Allen sitcom from the ’80s, you fucking hacks.”

That’s when the cash came out.

“And I’ll put a challenge up to these guys: I’ll put up $10,000,” Carolla continued. “You write me one good [‘Modern Family’] spec script, I’ll give it to [Eric] Stonestreet. If they do two pages of it, I’ll give you $10,000.”

Also Read: FilmBuff CEO Janet Brown on Adam Carolla’s ‘Road Hard’ and the Future of Streaming

The podcast king concluded: “Why would you be at ‘Dora the Explorer’ if you had talent?”

Obviously, on some level, the comedian was joking, because that’s what he does for a living. But Carolla has the coin, and is much a betting man as he is a man of principle. This isn’t the first time the “Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman” documentarian has bashed programming aimed at the youngsters.

TheWrap‘s request for comment regarding the sincerity of his latest gauntlet was not immediately returned.
