Jesus today’s Dollop
October 14, 2015 at 4:02 pm #11644I just posted that to the main thread. How have I never heard that story before? An embarrassing story about the Yankees? We should have been taught that in school.
October 15, 2015 at 3:44 pm #11838FCM, had you heard the wife swap story before? Trying to get the sense of how much of the humor is just hearing the story for the first time vs. what those two add.
Come back, Regular Brian.
My agenda is truth.
October 16, 2015 at 10:08 am #11926Love the Goodfellas Minute podcast. (Yeah, go figure.)
Turns out some of the actors in the introduction scene were just as big a scumbag criminal as the real life guy he was playing.
October 16, 2015 at 11:36 am #11947That wife swap story was in the New York papers at the time
I think it was also in Ball Four, CS is our resident expert on that book
October 16, 2015 at 1:08 pm #11965I still can’t get over that they held press conferences about the situation. Ye Gods.
Did the obligatory GIS. I hope one of those guys got a PTBNL.

I was very familiar with the story…we actually had a very similar situation in my neighborhood, causing much conversation about the comparisons.
I still loved it..their take on it was outstanding!

Actually, I was laughing about the Iraq podcast. The “life” swap one was funny too. Gareth’s reactions are priceless.
October 26, 2015 at 11:44 am #13947I’m assuming this will be posted for free somewhere a little after its first broadcast:

October 26, 2015 at 3:01 pm #14035Ready to tap out on Carolla, unless it’s Fitzsimmons or Gould. Jo Koy sounds exhausted with it all “Let’s say Bung Loo Soo was at a Dodgers game!”
finally started the Dollop this weekend. Holy shit
Is there any benefit to listening to them in sequence?
October 26, 2015 at 3:06 pm #14038Not really. Only the LAPD episodes

I’m listening to them more or less backwards although I listen to a new episode when they come up. I think each seems self contained.
October 26, 2015 at 4:01 pm #14068Missing Maura Murray is like Serial for ‘tards. Being a tard myself I recommend it.

I gave up on the first LAPD episode. 2, 3 and 4 were outstanding.
2 was insanely funny. It was the LA Confidential years. Tons o’ curruption.
First 3 must listens, besides LAPD, are Rube, $ .10 Beer Night , and The Egg Nog Riot.
October 27, 2015 at 9:04 am #14159The Willie D is a great one too. And Oofty Goofty.
October 28, 2015 at 10:19 am #14434Anybody find Gilbert on Artie’s podcast yet?
November 2, 2015 at 11:01 am #15724Nim the chimp!!
November 2, 2015 at 11:38 am #15738Heard about a podcast called Lore. Kind of like sideways in telling stories about spooky legends of old except the shows are about 15-20 mins long. The guy doing the podcast is from around here so a lot of the shows are new england centric.
Downloaded a few episodes and liked what I heard.
November 12, 2015 at 11:49 am #17408FCM, when does Walking the Room pick up? I think you mentioned on the other board that one should listen to them sequentially. I listened to the first two episodes and didn’t get much laughs. I picked up on some things that might be interesting, like their drinking days and Dave’s father.
Also, the first two episodes do help rehabilitate Greg’s image a bit. He said the talk show was a mistake. His books are just his thoughts and he doesn’t want to be a self help guru to anybody.

November 23, 2015 at 9:32 am #19762Artie Lang on Gilbert today. No mention of Howard Stern in the opening list of Artie’s intro. I know why but it’s still strange.

Gilbert mentions Stern later on and says it’s super awkward between them now.
It kinda sucked. Artie is as bad as Stern or Carolla in retelling stories you’ve heard a bunch of times already. This one it’s scoring coke dressed as a pig, and “Jew broad kills Draculas”.

I’d deny the Holocaust for 5 mins with Heidi Klum.

And Gilbert’s wife is in the audience.
The Cosby stuff was good too.

December 7, 2015 at 1:18 pm #22939Really enjoying the Dollop. Just heard 10 Cent beer night
Listening to them sequentially (it does help a bit) A subtle thing I’m enjoying is that Dave, funny as he is, is kind of dumb and can’t really read very well
