Monetizing Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast :ozzy: Is anyone a Stitcher Premium member?

Is he going to start charging? Howie Carr went to that model for his show; I’m curious how many are paying for that. Does his Trump derangement syndrome (in the sycophant sense) help?

Monday show will be free. Thursday will be in Sticher Premium. So you join Stitcher Premium and then have access to their library as well. Looks like its $5/mo.

Also past episodes will be moved over to Stitcher Premium, so Free episodes will only be available for a certain amount of time.

Norm’s new special on Netflix is the gold standard of stand-up specials. Incredible. Lots of the same bits from the final Letterman show, but still great.

Loved it. The bit about the third guy on Apollo 11 was the best.

“Those motherfuckers are playing golf?!?? When did they get a dune buggy?”

Didn’t listen but I bet they sounded a lot like Shank and High Pants Bob when discussing the internet and newspapers around 2000 or so.

Anybody listen to Kevin Pollak? I want to know whether the Vincent D’Onofrio episode is ponderous or interesting. I’ve heard he is a prick so it could break either way with no in between.

For those of you that miss the old Stern show like me, this popped up on youtube recently (I think? I had never seen it before)  There are 8 twenty minute volumes of Jackie getting his balls broke

I like these and I also listen to the Tom Chiusano clips. There are a couple of 9 hour compilations on there.

It’s not the usual board fare but I’ve gotten into the podcast game, starting a monthly podcast to promote local playwrights. First episode debuted last week.

While I subscribe, I’ve rarely listed to I Was There Too podcast. Movies I never watched and conversation that seemed to veer away from the point of the show.

Today was different. Jordan Katz who was an extra in Scent of a Woman. This was worth listening too.

That’s where podcasting gets too far up it’s own ass for me.

Has Simmons ever explained why he hasn’t revealed the name of where he worked? Besides it being made up, has he concocted some bullshit story or Simmons-esque “I don’t watch the Simpsons because everyone else does” or whatever?

I gave it a whirl. Its funny to listen to him basically admit most of his “act” was stolen. He doesn’t say it all at once but as he’s talking about his career there are like 3-4 instances of “and I just stole that concept from ” . He even admitted that now that he is a “boss” he can see that he was a pain in the ass in his early ESPN days. It was kind of a nothing of an interview. Maron hates sports so they didn’t really connect. I get uncomfortable whenever a guest makes an obvious sports reference and he goes along with it, knowing he has no clue. Also, i always roll my eyes when Billy tries to say that he loved “writing” like he’s some artist or something. :pk:

Sounds like a scenario where he got caught stealing liquor or cash and was presented with a choice of either quitting or getting fired/prosecuted.  He quit and he doesn’t mention the place.  I honestly can’t think of any other reason why you wouldn’t mention it, like what he had creative differences with the owner and they refuse to talk about it?  It could also be giving shit away, like if his friends came in and he set them up eating and drinking all night.  Bars are loaded with spotters that watch bartenders like pit bosses watching dealers.

I listened to a bunch at the beginning, but he’s such an inconsistent/one trick pony character.

Bawby is on like his tenth fat. He might not see 50. Colin has called Bobby a “last minute gift at the Beijing airport” and “the Iranian Kevin James.”

The first episode was a little slow.
Spielberg made movies as a kid, and that’s the only way he fit in? You don’t say!

Their podcast on John Holmes and the Wonderland murders was great. I didn’t know how much Boogie Nights stuff was taken from Holmes’ life.

Really enjoying the Dollop. Just heard 10 Cent beer night 😆 Listening to them sequentially (it does help a bit) A subtle thing I’m enjoying is that Dave, funny as he is, is kind of dumb and can’t really read very well

Thanks for the heads up. First episode was good.  I’ve seen Wonderland and read a decent amount about the murders but there was some stuff in there that was new to me.  Didn’t realize Holmes just told his straight as an arrow nurse wife “going to be a porn star!” and they just stayed married

Thought the two narrator format was pretty neat, where the woman starts out with the crime scene and works backwards and the guy starts out with Holmes getting into porn and works forward.
