That was pretty good. Something about it seems a little off…tonally. Which is to be expected given the approach as a stand alone. Visually it looks great.

I liked that quite a bit, really liked the music.  Hope it’s that style in the actual movie, if the other stand alones are Han and possibly Boba Fett then they’ll be a bit more comical/upbeat than this one.

For 30 years we’ve jokes how useless Stormtrooper armor is, but that guy beats up ten of them with a stick!

Final shot – R2 at a console on the Tantine IV receiving transmission of the plans as CPO blathers on. They’re still in every movie.

Finally caught Force Awakens as Starz is running it.  Good movie, I started it late and figured I’d get about an hour in and have to finish later but I made it through.  Driver was terrific as a whiney pants daddy was mean to me Sith wannabe and I liked how the Rey character had some Force skills vs. fumbling around with it.  The last scene was great.  Looking forward to the future films.  Hoping Poe and Hux have a scene where they have an Ex Machina flashback.

I’m sure people who understand music think Giacchino is a hack for all kinds of reasons but I’m psyched he’s replacing on Rogue One.

The Kylo Ren tantrum scene is a total Downfall ripoff.

    Most memorable line of TFA:

Is it “Tell that to Kanja Club!”?

Script nitpick: why have Snoke say, “your father, Han Solo”?

Doesn’t that later on rob from both the look on Solo’s face when he sees Kylo Ren, and when he tells Leia and her dentures that he saw their son?

Retconning the exhaust port as intentional by Jyn’s father would be the greatest retcon troll ever.

Chewie ripping off Unkar Plutt’s arm is another deleted scene in TFA apparently.

I guess it makes sense that Vader didn’t have to wear the military uniform of the Empire since his suit is basically a ventilator keeping him alive.

But what’s Kylo Ren’s excuse for not wearing the First Order monkey suit?

Jedi’s never wore the garb of the Republic either yet held the title of General.

Two good ways Rogue One can end:

    1. One person escapes with the plans, Darth Vader chops everyone else’s head off.

    2. The plans are delivered, and the crew makes sets course to go celebrate on Alderaan.

I don’t think any of them should escape, plans are transmitted to R2 on the Tantive IV on it’s ‘diplomatic mission’. The spies all die.

How much more of my money can they get?

Elsewhere, J.J. Abrams is offering up Mark Hamill’s The Last Jedi performance for your consideration (or rather, the Academy’s). The Force Awakens director and Last Jedi executive producer tells The New York Daily News that Hamill’s work on Episode VIII is Oscar caliber: “I think we are all going to be very upset if he does not win an Oscar, and no one more upset than Mark.”
