I’m bewildered at this “Talking Dead” thing. So let me get this straight: people actually tune into a show that’s essentially about helping people cope with the fact things didn’t turn out the way they had hoped in the zombie apocalypse?

 when they cut to Chris Hardwick at the end of Walking Dead it legitimately looked like he had been crying.  Oh no, they killed  a guy in the exact manner he died in the comic! (for once)

I don’t watch it regularly, but I like when I catch that. They’re not really dead, they’re probably on your couch right now!

Sinatra had less publicized comebacks than that fucking horse shit. Haven’t watched since season 2 and I’m the better for it.

I’ll watch depending on who the guests are.

If you want to turn the Hardwick hate up to a noine (TM bababooey) try to listen to an episode of the Nerdist.  It hurts my ears.

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is returning to the small screen.

In a competitive situation with six outlets bidding, Amazon has handed out an eight-episode straight-to-series order, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The series, which is said to have scored a $70 million commitment, will be co-financed by Amazon and The Weinstein Co.

Little is known about the concept of the series, though it is said to be a contemporary anthology that is set in multiple locations across the globe. Weiner created the project and will write and exec produce as well as direct half the episodes.

Anyone start or watch the Billy Bob Thornton series on Amazon? Was thinking I might give it a shot. Just watching Quarry and Westworld currently.

Goliath is next in my mental queue. Also mid-way through catching up on both Quarry and Westworld.

I’m halfway through Goliath and really like it so far. Bill Hurt plays a great weirdo, and Thornton is solid. Only 8 episodes, I’d say it’s definitely worth watching.

That Quarry finale was pretty good.  Best face blown apart scene and that story with the Broker and the poppy fields in Vietnam was a good twist.

I thought that the robots couldn’t harm the guests?  When asshole bro was getting tuned up by the soldiers, was that them getting enough consciousness to ignore their programming, or is it because they were off the grid so to speak, in the area where anything goes?

    (Pushes nerd glasses up…)

I think they can’t kill a guest, but they can tune them up. Also the dual timeline theory (in which the McPoyle brother from Its Always Sunny is Ed Harris from 30 years ago) says that maybe the programming before the “incident” was more violent than the current day.

I thought they weren’t supposed to harm anything, first episode when all the flies wouldn’t bother them then at the end Dolores squashes the fly indicating she’s going off script.

There was that time that McPoyle got shot, and it knocked him over and stung a bit, but didn’t kill him.

Yet in the (possible future) time with Ed Harris the shots seem to just break harmlessly on residents.  Better tech also indicating a less violent park after some bad incident in the past.

Finally started watching last night, first episode and a half are great.  Only nit was the cop beats him up and tazes the daughter, then he wakes up in a holding cell.  He runs into the daughter later, and it’s as if nothing happened.  He doesn’t even ask what happened to you or anything.  Even when he gets out he heads straight to court, doesn’t even bother to find out what happened to his daughter.

Great ep of Westworld. Even when the fan theories out there are proven correct, the show can still make it suspenseful.

Tony Hopkins, you still got it, kid!

Not my theory, but one I heard that seems to make sense is that the Hemsworth brother security guy snapped her up in a “hey be careful you’re getting too close to exposing the powers that be” scenario.

The other fun theory is is Hopkins making a duplicate Theresa to But back in charge and rehire Bernard?

A recap I read reminded me that Bernard asked Elsie whether she was alone when she was in the basement.  It could be that he gave her the Theresa treatment.

btw Theresa’s accent is incredibly annoying.   Do you think she is supposed to be speaking with an American accent and she just can’t get it right or is the character supposed to be swedishy?

It took me like five episodes to finally look up what was bugging me about the security guy.  Are the Hemsworths the Gronks, Plumlees, or Zellers of Hollywood?

I don’t think so but you can’t rule it out for anyone at this point.  The one guy(felix?) was tinkering with a bird which leads me to believe he wasn’t following a script.  And why would they program the other guy to be such a mush.

    #76925

But why wouldn’t they just shut her down when she was threatening them? A theory I read was that they are part of a greater experiment to see how hosts would react if another host tried to escape

Does Hopkins program Bernard to not get human blood on his coat and tie, or is he going off script on that?

Clearly not a coincidence that Crichton wrote the original movie and then copied himself with Jurassic Park.

He’s a putz but at least he’s trying to do the logical thing at this point.  When Maeve ultimately friend zones Felix it’s going to be particularly crushing

Maybe I read it wrong, but when Bernard asked Ford if he ever asked him to kill before, and Ford (lied) and said no, I thought the presumption was that it was Ford who had Bernard kill Elsie.

There was a flash to Bernard strangling someone.  I rewound it but it didn’t look like Elsie to me.
