There was a flash to Bernard strangling someone. I rewound it but it didn’t look like Elsie to me.

Right. I just assumed it was her. Didn’t get a good look either.

Possible, I guess. But why kill one offscreen and one onscreen.

Gotta go with she’s still alive until I see a corpse. (Though I guess that didn’t work with Stannis on GoT).

Sounds like people lose their minds in that place anyhow, whether it’s William or the Black Hat or Felix.  Marsden getting the arrow in the chest was great.  Logan coming back to William “you are so fucked” or whatever he said was great too.  I could do without the weird minotaur shit.

Showtime did an early on demand of The Affair premiere, I see it aired regularly last night.  I might be tapping out with Noah getting abused by creepy Brendan Fraser

The first episode was good. I told my wife that there was no new episode last night, looks like I was wrong.

Wouldn’t surprise me if that body Ford is building is one to replace her with.

Speaking of watch with your wife shows, I was skeptical after Mrs. Kevin hooked me into the first episode of This is Us, but after five I’m hooked!

    I know!

First episode I was basically on my phone the whole time. By the third, I was like, “Wait, the mom divorced the dad and got remarried to his best friend? What the fuck??”

Very little would surprise me at this point, but I think the wild theory about Ford being a host (that Arnold built and who turned on him) is bullshit. Ford ages like a normal human. We’ve seen him young, he’s old now.  He’s human. Hosts don’t age – Dolores has always looked the same and she’s been in service for 30 years.

I’m more partial to the idea that host-Bernard is someone Ford designed to look just like Arnold.

Your last point would flow nicely with the dreams that Bernard was given about having a son that died.

My only real problem at this point is turning Maeve into the “Host Whisperer”.  Just feels lazy.  Now it might turn out to be part of Ford’s larger narrative but as soon as the robbery actually happened you would think the powers that be would shut the park down unless it was a standard deviation (not THREE just one!) and built into the story.  Started re-watching from the beginning to try to catch some of the deeper details–plus Maeve’s nips alone are worth the re-watch.  (God, I have issues)

It also fits with Bernard being unable to see the third person in the photo. If Bernard looks just like Arnold, Ford would have programmed him so he won’t see that.

It also fits with the private chats Bernard has with Dolores where he tells her about the maze and how she can find it and get to the center of it. The idea would be that those are 30-year-old flashbacks of Arnold giving instructions to Dolores, and it’s not Bernard at all. I’m not sure, but it’s interesting.

Ehh. We already learned two episodes ago that Bernard was a host, I’m not sure how much learning he’s a copy of Arnold adds. Plus, what is the show without the Ford-Bernard stuff?

Also, that board member lady is Man in Black,s daughter, right?

It adds the fact that a popular fan theory turned out right?

    Nothing else interesting for you?

Also, that board member lady is Man in Black,s daughter, right?

Why do you think that? MIB is a member of the board, so they’d be colleagues, right?

The other major fan theory is that William and the MIB are the same character 30 years apart. We don’t know if that’s true yet.

I’d say that’s definitely true. It would be strange if they’re not the same guy at this point.

    Anagrams? Jeez.

Though Reddit has been clinging to anagrams as proof that Bernard and Arnold are indeed one and the same, I have to admit I never thought it would happen. But in this week’s episode, we find out, as Dolores passes the placard on his door, that Arnold’s last name is Weber. When you rearrange the letters of “Arnold Weber” you get, oh yes, ”Bernard Lowe.” Which is odd, since Ford seemed to come up with the name “Bernard” on a whim. The takeaway? Westworld is the kind of show that uses anagram clues. He

Some Redditor figured out that the first letter of the episode titles of Better Call Saul season two spelled out “Frings Back”.

If the horse is a robot, and robots can’t kill humans, what would be the point of stringing up Ed Harris to a horse?

so the picture Logan shoved in William’s face was the same one Dolores’ dad found.  Bolster’s the Willaim/MiB theory I guess?  Never watched Lost, was it narratively similar?

I wasn’t into the BB online world at the time but did people figure out 737 Down Over ABQ in season 2? I assume they did. That one was kinda easy.

I’m guessing you sign a waiver where they tell you you can be killed accidentally. The “human” hosts can’t actively kill you (they can hurt you, not kill you), but nothing’s to stop you from falling off a horse, or a cliff, or drowning, or having a heart attack during a bar fight.  My hunch is that animal robots have more realistic programming when it comes to interacting with guests. They’re probably legally part of the environment in a way that human hosts aren’t.

I’d love to know all the logistics behind that place.

I enjoy watching Westworld, but I don’t think it is a very good show.  After all these “mysteries” have been solved, not much has actually happened at all. I guess they are trying to oust Ford and the hooker is trying to get out. I don’t find myself giving too much of a fuck about either one. Where will Maeve live? What happens if there is inclement weather?

Also, I’m struck by the fact fans are orgasming themselves to the acting taking place. Holy Shit Sir Anthony Hopkins really pulls off the vacant psycho look!

What I like about it is imagining what the endgame would look like. This is the thorny question around most AI narratives. When is the artificial thing complex and “human” enough to acquire human rights? What happens when it wants them? Who decides? Do we change how they’re treated? Do we get an unintended Frankenstein scenario? Can the genie go back in the bottle, etcetera.

currently chewing through Brotherhood.  Preposterous that I’ve never seen it- not only filmed in my city, but on my block.  My noted provincialism aside, really enjoying it.  Doesn’t quite split the difference between Sopranos and The Wire, but comes close

I just don’t like and don’t think it holds up outside of the leads acting their dicks off. I wouldn’t argue against it, but I personally think the first season of Entourage is way more enjoyable. Hello Ladies too.

Well I didn’t say best, I love sci-fi and that show and the music in it just hit all the right notes for me.  Sopranos and the Wire are obviously the best overall shows, but if the Leftovers nails season 3 it might be my overall top show for everything else.
